Are crispy chicken wrap recipes best served warm or cold?

Wraps are usually served cold. However, for this specific recipe, it’s best to serve your wraps while the chicken is still warm to ensure that the meat remains as crispy as intended. Of course, though, you can still enjoy this dish cold, as its juicy flavors will remain even when its crunchiness doesn’t.

🥘 Ingredients

Air Fried Chicken Wrap ingredients.

The ingredients you’ll need to make this recipe are all available in your local grocery store. So, make sure to add these wrap ingredients to your to-buy list and indulge in the goodness of this chicken wrap recipe in no time!

  • Chicken breast: This will be the highlight in every bite and is the dish’s main high protein source. Just cut the chicken into thin strips to ensure it’ll be crispy outside and juicy inside.
  • Eggs: The eggs will act as the batter’s binder, ensuring the chicken strips’ crispy texture and adding richness to their flavor.
  • All-purpose flour: The flour will be used to create the batter for the chicken strips.
  • Cornstarch: This, combined with flour, is the secret to crispy and cooked chicken that makes this wrap unforgettable.
  • Nature’s seasoning: This mixture of herbs and spices enhances the aroma and flavor of the chicken pieces.
  • Caesar dressing: The dressing contains a combination of garlic, anchovy, parmesan cheese, and lemon juice. The Caesar dressing is the source of the wrap’s tangy and creamy flavor, making the chicken more flavorful.
  • Parmesan cheese: Parmesan cheese adds a nutty and salty flavor to the salad. It also complements the tangy and creamy taste of the Caesar dressing.
  • Croutons: These serve as another source of that extra crunch, and also add a bit of a toasted flavor to your wrap.
  • Romaine lettuce: This will serve as the base of the Caesar salad, adding a refreshing flavor to the wrap.
  • Burrito-sized tortillas: Flour tortilla wraps combine the tender yet crispy chicken strips and the fresh Caesar salad in one roll.

🔀 Substitutions

Chicken breast: If you want a vegan source of protein for this recipe, you can substitute chicken breast with tofu.

All-purpose flour: You can use gluten-free flour as an alternative to all-purpose flour.

Nature’s seasoning: If you can’t find any nature’s seasoning mix, you can create your own seasoning blend by combining garlic powder, red onion powder, dried oregano, dried basil, thyme, paprika, salt, and pepper.

🌈 Variations / Options / Add-Ins

You can customize this wrap recipe however you like. Here are some of the ways you can elevate this dish!

  • Buffalo Chicken Wrap: Add some buffalo sauce to the chicken strips, then drizzle ranch dressing or blue cheese dressing for an extra spicy and tangy flavor.
  • Kid-friendly Delight: You can make this healthy wrap a bit more exciting for the kids by adding nuggets or super crispy bacon as another source of protein. You may also incorporate other colorful vegetables like cherry tomato slices and cucumber sticks.
  • Asian Fusion Version: Add a dash of Asian flavor to this dish by marinating the chicken tenders in soy sauce, garlic, ginger, and honey. You may also add some toasted sesame seeds, sliced cucumber, and shredded carrots to the salad.
  • Extra Crunch Delight: Toss some perfectly crispy fried onions per wrap to make each bite of your wrap extra crunchy.

If you also love meaty crunchy tortilla shells, consider making this salsa chicken filling that you can easily make in the slow cooker.

🥄 Equipment Needed / Helpful Tools

You’ll only need a few tools to make this recipe.

  • Air fryer: This is the primary tool you will use to fry the chicken tenders. It helps achieve the chicken’s crunchy texture and removes the excess oil.
  • Two bowls: The two bowls will be used during the battering process.
  • Kitchen tongs: To avoid creating a mess and to ensure your safety while handling the chicken strips, it is essential to use kitchen tongs.
  • Large mixing bowl: The bowl will help you toss the salad mixture properly.

🔪 How to Make Air Fryer Crispy Chicken Caesar Wrap

Each batch of this extra-crispy chicken wrap takes less than an hour to make. Let’s get into the steps of this process!

Step 1: Prepare the chicken strips’ batter

In one bowl, make the mixture of all-purpose flour, cornstarch, and nature’s seasoning. Then, in a separate bowl, beat the eggs until well-combined.

Step 2: Cut the chicken breast

Get the chicken breasts and cut them into strips. Make sure that the strips are not too thick for easy cooking.

Step 3: Coat the chicken strips

Grab one chicken strip and dip it in the flour mixture. After doing so, drench it in egg and coat it again with the flour filling. Repeat this batter process for each chicken strip.

Step 4: Cook the chicken strips

After the coating process, use tongs to carefully put the chicken strips in the air fryer basket sprayed with cooking oil. Set the air fryer to 380° F and cook for 8 minutes. Then, flip the chicken strip and cook for 3 more minutes so that both sides will get the golden brown color evenly.

Step 5: Prepare the salad mixture

Chop the romaine lettuce and other salad toppings of your choice. Afterward, add them to the bowl with the salad dressing, croutons, and parmesan cheese, then mix the salad mixture.

Step 6: Assemble the wrap

On a tortilla, put ½ cup of the salad mixture and add 3-4 fried chicken strips. Carefully fold the wrap like a burrito and serve!

👩‍🍳 Pro Tips

  • Apart from adding crispy onions, you can use panko breadcrumbs for the chicken coating for that extra crunch.
  • You can use different sauce options for this wrap, such as bbq sauce, sriracha mayo, garlic sauce, or honey mustard.
  • For an extra hint of freshness and zing, add a pinch of black pepper and a squeeze of lemon juice to the Caesar salad mixture.

❓ Recipe FAQs

How can I store cooked wraps?

Keep these wraps covered in foil or in an airtight container and keep them in the refrigerator for up to two days. If you want to ensure your lettuce doesn’t go soggy, you can skip putting the Caesar salad before storing and only add it when you’re ready to serve the wraps.

Can I freeze these wraps?

I don’t recommend freezing these wraps due to the lettuce. If you want to prepare this food in advance, it’s best to only freeze the breaded chicken strips before air frying.

Can I warm the tortillas I use for this recipe?

Yes, you can warm the tortillas of this recipe. But it’s best to grill them before assembly, as air frying or grilling these fully assembled wraps will make the lettuce soggy.
