Are breadsticks crispy or soft?

Breadsticks can be both crispy and soft, depending on the exact recipe you’re cooking.

These cheese-stuffed breadsticks, in particular, have a bread-like, soft texture, but some variations, such as the Grissini breadsticks, are known for their crunchiness and stick-like appearance.

A good rule of thumb is to remember that whenever breadsticks are stuffed, they almost always maintain a soft, bread-like texture.

🔪 How to Make Cheese Stuffed Breadsticks

Once you have the ingredients and tools all set, you can proceed to make this savory goodness in no time!

Step 1: Thaw the bread overnight

Place the frozen bread loaves in a casserole dish that’s spritzed with nonstick cooking spray. Cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate the dish overnight to thaw the bread.

Step 2: Prepare to bake

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Cover a large baking sheet with parchment paper and spritz it with nonstick cooking spray evenly.

Step 3: Assemble the breadsticks

On a clean surface, roll the dough out and cut it into 24 rectangular pieces. Wrap each dough around one cheese stick. Make sure to pinch and press firmly to completely seal the edges of the dough and avoid the cheese from oozing out once baked.

Lay out the cheese-wrapped pieces on the prepared baking sheet. Cover the entire sheet and keep it in a draft-free location for about 20 minutes or until the pieces have doubled in size.
