Spicy Crab Dip is such a quick and easy appetizer to make for a party. The great party about this party recipe is that it is a no-cook crab dip so you don’t have to heat up your kitchen.

Or, if you’re leaning into a seafood theme, you can serve this at your next crab boil as a cold appetizer along with crab cakes and a selection of crab cake sauces as a hot appetizer.

IS CRAB MEAT HEALTHY?

Crab meat is very healthy seafood. It is very low in calories and very high in protein.

There are also some good vitamins and minerals found in crab meat.

The main problem with fresh crab meat is that people tend to want to dip the meat in melted butter and that can increase caloric intake rapidly.

There is sodium content in crab meat because the crabs live in saltwater. If you are watching your sodium intake you will want to factor the sodium content of the crab meat into your daily allowance.

You will see real crab meat in the store and imitation crab meat. There is a big difference between the two foods. Imitation crab meat is a very processed food that is made with minced fish.

INGREDIENTS IN SPICY CRAB DIP

I love spicy foods but also like being able to control how much spice I use in the recipe. This recipe is very easy to modify for people who don’t like as much spice. If you want to make sure to add the right amount of spice, use this Hot Pepper Chart in Scoville Units.

HOW TO MAKE SPICY CRAB DIP

Whisk and go recipes are the BEST especially if you are preparing for a party and are short on time. This can be made in advance and kept in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

STEP ONE: PREPARE VEGGIES

Start off by chopping the red bell pepper and celery into very small pieces. I prefer to buy a 4 ounce can of chopped jalapenos to save time, but if you prefer to use fresh jalapenos then you will need to chop those up also.

STEP TWO: PREPARE CRAB MEAT

I like to use lump crab meat for this recipe. You can purchase cans of lump crab meat or packages. If you use canned crab meat be sure to pick through the meat to make sure there are no pieces of shell.

You can also use imitation crab meat for this recipe. If you use imitation crab meat you will need to chop it up into smaller pieces.

STEP THREE: MIX

Take a large bowl and combine the sour cream, mayonnaise, cream cheese, jalapenos, garlic, salt, and pepper. Whisk these ingredients until well combined.

Mix in the crab meat, sriracha, red bell pepper, and celery.

Store any leftovers in the refrigerator.

This is great served with chips, crackers or vegetables.
