While this ingredient list may seem a little long for this recipe, you most likely have most of these simple ingredients on hand in your pantries already. The other ingredients should be easy to find at your local grocery store.

Boneless skinless chicken thighs: This is my preferred substitution for chicken breasts in this recipe. I find that chicken thighs stay moist and juicy much better than chicken breasts when cooked in a crockpot.

Cornstarch: If you are looking for a gluten-free substitution for cornstarch, you can use arrowroot powder or tapioca flour.

How to Make This Crockpot Orange Chicken Recipe 

This slow cooker orange chicken recipe comes together in a few simple steps. Just follow the instructions below and you will have a family favorite meal in no time at all. 

Step 1: Prepare the slow cooker 

Prepare the slow cooker by either spraying it with nonstick cooking spray or inserting a liner.

Step 2: Shake together the dry ingredients

In a gallon-sized freezer bag, shake together the cornstarch, salt, and pepper. Add the chicken and toss to coat.

Step 3: Brown the chicken pieces

In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the olive oil and brown the chicken in batches until browned on both sides. Place chicken in the crock pot.

Step 4: Stir together the sauce

In a medium bowl, whisk together the remaining ingredients. Pour it over the chicken in the slow cooker.

Cover the slow cooker and cook for 2 hours on low or 1 hour on high, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees.
