What are nutter butter cookies?
Nutter butter cookies are very popular in the US, but for those of you who do not know what they are…. they are essentially peanut butter sandwich cookies shaped like a peanut. Kids LOVE them – and they’re pretty tasty. Nutter butter cookie ingredients even consist of REAL peanut butter – can we say THANK YOU?! They might not be super healthy … but hey, at least you got the real thing!
Where can you buy nutter butter cookies?
If you’re located in the US, nutter butter cookies can be found all over the place – grocery stores, gas stations, etc. However – you can also find them online on Amazon as well as other places too! They’re generally pretty easy to find.
How do you decorate nutter butter cookies?
When it comes time to decorate, I LOVE using Wilton decorating supplies. You just slather some icing on the base of them, freeze, and then go wild with decorating the details. It’s a lot of fun!
How to make snowman nutter butter cookies
To decorate these snowman nutter butter cookies, you’ll need these simple ingredients:
- Nutter butter cookies
- Cookie icing – white, red, and green
- Sparkle gel – white
- Sprinkles – white, red, and green
- Snowman cookie ball decorations
- Reindeer cookie ball decorations
STEP 1: Gather ingredients
Before you get started, gather up the ingredients to make your snowman nutter butter cookies! Most of the ingredients can be found by Wilton but off-brand will work as well. Having the ingredients ready just makes it much easier!
STEP 2: Ice the nutter butter cookies
To get started, lay down wax paper on your kitchen counter (or a cookie sheet) and place the nutter butter cookies about an inch apart.
Squeeze the white icing on the top of your snowman cookies and let it run down the sides. Add more icing to the top edge and let it run down the sides as well.
STEP 3: Start decorating the snowman cookies
Next, apply the snowman cookie ball decorations by positioning the eyes, nose, and buttons as you see below.
Then, lift up the cookies using a spatula just before the icing is completely dry and move them to a clean sheet of wax paper. Continue doing this until there is no more icing pooling on the wax paper and let the icing dry completely before moving onto the next step.
STEP 4: Add details to your snowman cookies
Once the icing is dry, use the red or green icing to make a scarf around the snowman’s neck.
Lift up the cookies using a spatula to move to a clean sheet of wax paper just as the icing is drying, as done in the previous step.
STEP 5: Finalize the nutter butter cookies
Lastly, add some of the sparkle gel to the bottom of the cookies and spread it around with a butter knife so it spills over the edge. Allow the icing to dry overnight and then serve. Enjoy!
