  • Lift up the cookies with a spatula before the icing completely dries and move to a clean sheet of wax paper. Repeat until there is no icing dripping off the sides. Allow to cool before moving onto the next step.
  • Use red or green icing to make a scarf around the snowman's neck on each cookie.
  • Lift up the cookies using a spatula to move to a clean sheet of wax paper, as done previously.
  • Add some sparkle gel to the bottom of the cookies and spread it around with a butter knife so it spills over the edge.

Notes

Pro Tips

  • Icing hardens as it dries, so press on eyes, nose and buttons while the icing is still wet so they adhere well.
  • Let the base icing dry slightly before moving cookies to a new wax paper sheet. This prevents a messy transfer.
  • Let the decorated cookies dry for at least 6–8 hours (or overnight) to ensure the icing and sparkle gel set completely.
  • Place the cookies on a wire rack once dry to make sure the bottom of the cookies aren’t sticky.

Once the cookies are dry, store them in an airtight container with layers separated by wax paper to prevent sticking. Keep the cookies in a cool, dry place to preserve their decoration.

Can I freeze decorated cookies?
Yes! Freeze them in a single layer on a tray first, then transfer them to a freezer-safe container. Thaw at room temperature to prevent smudging.
