Sweet & Sour Instant Pot Pork Roast is a quick and easy dinner that even picky eaters enjoy. No trips to a specialty market required! Just items you usually already have on hand.
Inspired by my kids’ favorite Chinese takeout dish (Sweet & Sour Chicken), it’s full of the flavor they love using a cut of meat that I always keep on hand. Pork roasts are so versatile, I always like to have one in the freezer.
Sweet and sour is always a popular combination. It’s one of my go-to flavors when I want to make a crowd-pleasing dish. For example, one of the most popular appetizers I make is Sweet & Sour Meatballs.
Plus, although I love cooking with chicken, I also like to switch things up and experiment with new Instant Pot pork recipes instead.
Since I always have a pork roast in my freezer (easy meal for a crowd), I decided to switch it up and instead of dousing it in BBQ sauce, try a sweet & sour version instead. It turned out delicious so I decided to share the recipe!

How to Make Sweet & Sour Instant Pot Pork Roast
Like most of my recipes, this Sweet & Sour Instant Pot Pork Roast is really easy to make and you don’t need any hard-to-find ingredients.
Step One: Saute
First, you need to turn your Instant Pot on and choose the saute setting. Wait for the display panel to read “Hot” then add oil and the pork strips.

After the pork strips are lightly browned, add some sliced onions and green bell peppers.

Continue to saute for two minutes.

Step Two: Add Remaining Ingredients
Now it’s time to add all the ingredients that will create that delicious sweet and sour flavor: tomato sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and salt. I also like to add sliced mushrooms but you can leave them out if you don’t like them.

Add 1/2 cup of water so that the pot can come to pressure.
Step Three: Pressure Cook
Finally, it’s time to let the Instant Pot take over. Secure the lid, set the valve to sealing and choose “Manual” (or “Pressure” on some models) and set the time for 10 minutes.
When the timer counts down, quick release the pressure. Serve over rice.
