Fitness is important to me. I am a happier person, a more productive person, and a better wife and mother when I am fit and healthy. Because exercise is important to me, I have several mechanisms in place to make sure I do it.
First, I rely on peer pressure. I am much better at sticking to my workouts when I have a friend who is counting on me to be there.
Second, I lay out workout clothes the night before so that I’m dressed to workout before I’m even fully awake.
Third, I post motivational pictures and quotes in the places I need them most—my bathroom mirror, the refrigerator door, on my cell phone.
I can’t help you find a workout partner or lay out your clothes for you, but I can share my favorite fitness motivation quotes with you. Hopefully one or more of these will help you on a day when you might otherwise skip your workout.
Things do not change. We change. — Henry David Thoreau
It’s never too late to become what you might have been. — George Elliot
Make the most of yourself, for that is all there is of you. — Ralph Waldo Emerson
The secret of getting ahead is getting started. — Mark Twain
Your body hears everything your mind says. — Naomi Judd
You miss 100 percent of the shots you never take. — Wayne Gretzky
Don’t let what you can’t do interfere with what you can do. — John Wooden
You can’t get much done in life if you only work on the days when you feel good. — Jerry West
Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending. — Carl Bard
Fall down seven times, get up eight. — Chinese proverb.
Great souls have wills; feeble ones have only wishes. — Chinese proverb
I may not be there yet, but I’m closer than I was yesterday.
When you feel like quitting, think about why you started.
Don’t give up what you want most for what you want now.
You can feel sore tomorrow or you can feel sorry tomorrow. You choose.
Don’t make excuses. Make progress.
Strive for progress, not perfection.
If it’s important to you, you will find a way. If not, you’ll find an excuse.
It’s not who you are that holds you back, it’s who you think you’re not.
Think about how far you have gotten, not about how far you still have to go.
Obsessed is just a word the lazy use to describe the dedicated.
Sweat is fat crying.
