These easy cupcake spiders are a fun treat to surprise your kids with at Halloween. They’re perfect for a lunchbox dessert or for a classroom party.
I’m always looking for ways to get maximum wow factor with as little effort as possible. These cupcake spiders are exactly that kind of project! Anyone can create this spider craft.
How to Make Cupcake Spiders
These cupcake spiders are truly easy to make. I always say that if I can make a craft, anyone can because I have very limited craft ability!
Materials Needed:
- Hostess cream filled cupcakes
- Black pipe cleaners
- Googly eyes
- White craft foam
- Scissors
- Low-temperature hot glue gun
If you check out my other snack crafts for Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, you’ll see that I get a lot of use out of the materials above. So don’t worry, even though you only use 2 pipe cleaners out of an entire bag or just a small section of your white craft foam, I have plenty of ideas to help you use up the rest throughout the year!
Instructions:
First, cut each pipe cleaner into 4 equal pieces, so that you have 8 similar-sized pieces.
Next, bend each piece slightly to form the spider’s legs. Use a low-temperature glue gun to attach each pipe cleaner leg to the sides of the cupcake.
Glue two googly eyes on top of the cupcake towards the front. (I bought a bulk bag of googly eyes last year and I put them on EVERYTHING!)
You can stop here if you want. But if you want to make your spiders extra creepy, cut out two fangs from white craft foam.
And attach them to the front of the cupcake just below the eyes.
That’s it! In just minutes you’ve created a perfectly spooky Halloween spider out of a cupcake.
These are so quick and simple, you can make up a couple dozen cupcake spiders for a Halloween party! Kids love putting on the googly eyes and bending the pipe cleaners to form the legs.
