Many thanks to PEEPS® and PEEPS & COMPANY ® for providing the free samples and information that helped me to create today’s post. All opinions within the post are my own.
This blog is all about making parenting and running a household easier and more fun. That’s why you won’t find a lot of recipes and projects here that require you to have a PhD in arts and crafts. I’m all about shortcuts!
So, you can imagine my delight when I found out that Peeps makes marshmallow graveyard markers! Now, I could recreate the amazing Halloween cakes I see all over Pinterest without spending hours modeling headstones out of chocolate or making and decorating cookies to look like headstones.
A box of cake mix, a container of frosting, a package of Oreos crushed in a Ziploc bag, and some toothpicks and Peeps was all it took to make this graveyard cake.
- 1 box chocolate cake mix
- 1 container chocolate frosting
- 1 package of Oreos
- PEEPS® tombstones ghosts, and pumpkins
Bake cake according to directions on package for a 13x9 in pan.
Once cake has cooled, top with frosting.
Crush Oreos in a large Ziploc bag using a rolling pin.
Sprinkle crushed Oreos over frosting layer.
Insert toothpicks in bottom of each Peep and insert other half of toothpick in cake.
You might notice some ghosts and pumpkins in my graveyard. Yep, those are Peeps too! This was the easiest decorated cake I’ve ever made. You can find even more fun ideas on the PEEPS® website.
I felt bad that my oldest son wasn’t here to enjoy my Halloween masterpiece since he’s away at college. So, I decided to top his latest care package with an assortment of Halloween-themed flavored Peeps.
I can’t wait to hear which one he likes best! The rest of the family couldn’t agree. My other son liked the candy corn flavor best, my younger daughter liked caramel apple, my teen daughter preferred pumpkin spice and my favorite was the chocolate dipped. My husband (who is the biggest PEEPS® fan ever) loved them all and couldn’t choose a favorite.
PEEPS & COMPANY® not only carries PEEPS®, but also Mike & Ike, Hot Tamales, and Goldenberg’s Peanut Chews.
I know trick-or-treaters are going to love these Mike & Ike Mummy’s Mix and Vampire Variety treats!
I had to hide this basket after taking the picture below since chocolate is my weakness. I love that the peanut chews come in both dark chocolate and milk chocolate. And I hate that I love them so much!
