Hi, I’m Corinne
I’m a mom of five, a former military spouse of 30 years, and the founder, writer, and editor of Wondermom Wannabe. I’ve been blogging here since January 16, 2013, testing recipes, troubleshooting parenting hiccups, and figuring out how to make a busy household feel manageable.

This site exists because I lived the version of family life it’s written about. Four moves, five kids, a husband deployed more times than I can count, and a lot of nights staring at the fridge at 5 PM wondering what on earth to make for dinner. The tips and resources here aren’t hypothetical. They’re what actually worked.
My background
Education
My educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in English and an MBA, and I completed all the doctoral coursework for a Doctorate in Business before life had other plans. When my youngest daughter was born, I made the intentional choice to step away from the dissertation and into something that felt more aligned with the life I actually wanted to build. Wondermom Wannabe was born not long after, and I’ve never looked back.
Family life
I’m the mother of five. Four biological children (each born in a different state, thanks to military life) and one adopted at age 13. I was married for 30 years to a U.S. Marine, which meant raising our kids across Illinois, Virginia, North Carolina, Alabama, Arizona, and California.

That stretch of years gave me a kind of motherhood experience most parenting writers don’t have. I’ve parented through deployments, cross-country moves, new schools every couple of years, special needs adoption, teen years, and launching kids into adulthood. The advice I share isn’t theoretical. It’s pulled directly from the trial and error of doing it.
Today I’m in a new and exciting chapter of life with a wonderful partner. I did my job well enough that all five kids have flown the nest, and I’m enjoying this season just as much as the ones that came before it.

Professional experience
Before launching Wondermom Wannabe in 2013, I worked in the corporate world. Since then, I’ve built a portfolio of websites and businesses focused on helping moms and online creators:
- Wondermom Wannabe (2013 to present). Family lifestyle blog.
- Sequins in the South (acquired 2019). Southern lifestyle.
- More Chicken Recipes (founded 2020). Chicken recipe site.
- Book Club Center (founded 2023). Resource for book clubs.
- The Smart Influencer (co-founded 2021 with Christina Hitchcock). Education, coaching, and community for content creators building sustainable online businesses, including The Smart Influencer Podcast.
Books
I’m the published author of two books, both from Rockridge Press:
Both books were a natural extension of what I do here on the blog: gathering tested, family-friendly content and packaging it in a way other busy parents can actually use.

My philosophy
Life doesn’t come with a one-size-fits-all manual. What works for one family won’t work for another, and what works for one season of your life won’t work for the next. There’s no one right way to be a mom.
That’s why I share so many different ideas, recipes, and resources here. Take what helps or works for you, ignore the rest. The whole point is to give you enough options that you can build your own version of family life, not copy someone else’s.
The other piece of my philosophy is this: life’s too short to waste time being upset about the parts of motherhood that don’t go perfectly. The goal isn’t a flawless home. It’s a happy one.
What I’m like off the clock
When I’m not writing, I’m reading (a lot), hosting book club, playing word games (Scrabble, Boggle, anagrams, bring it on), and chasing marathon finish lines. I love a competitive family game night, whether that’s around a board game or on a volleyball court. The sound of pickleball paddles and the laughter of my loved ones are the sounds I cherish most.

I can relate on so many levels, I am a single mom. I had a great job in the corporate world and for the last 7 years I have stayed home. This has been the hardest job I have ever had. Being a single mom, going to school, health issues and running my household. I am anything but a wonder mom. What I do I do strive to be the best and live my life in the moment and cherish each and every blessing that comes my way
