You only need a few simple ingredients to help you make this delicious recipe. All of these ingredients are easy to find at your local grocery store. 

  • cake mix – You can use any type of cake mix that you want. I used a golden or butter cake mix. 
  • oil – You will need some type of cooking oil to whip up the cake mix. I like to use vegetable oil, but you could also use canola oil or coconut oil.
  • eggs – Large eggs are best to use when working with a baking mix like this one. 

Substitutions

Cake Mix: You can use any type of cake mix, Funfetti cake mix, red velvet, birthday cake, spice cake, strawberry cake mix, or chocolate cake mix would work great in this recipe. 

Soda: Instead of using the oil, eggs, and water that the cake mix calls for you, you can use 12 ounces of your favorite soda instead.

How to Make Cake Mix Waffles 

Making this easy recipe is simple. Just follow the instructions below and you will have a family-friendly breakfast in no time at all. 

Step 1: Preheat the waffle iron

Plug in the waffle iron and preheat it while you mix up the batter.

Step 2: Make the batter 

While the iron preheats, make the batter according to the directions on the back of the cake mix box.

Once the iron is ready, spray the waffle iron plates with nonstick cooking spray and add about 1/2 cup of batter into the iron.
