Substitutions and Additions

Chicken breast: This is the best chicken to use for this recipe but you can use other chicken as well that you have on hand as long as you can cube it up.

Pickle juice: This is the key to this tasty dish! Your nuggets won’t taste like copycat nuggets if you don’t add in the pickle juice. (and it needs to be dill pickle juice, too!)

Variations / Options / Add-Ins

If you don’t want the sugar: You can opt to leave out the sugar and just go for a less sweetened version. It WILL make a difference in the flavor, but will also cut down on the added sugar at the same time.

FAQs

How to store

If you have leftovers, store them in a container with a lid for the best optimal results.

How to reheat

I love to reheat in the air fryer for a few moments or pop them in the microwave for a short amount of time.

Can you meal prep these chicken nuggets?

You bet. I would recommend cutting up the chicken and have it marinating before hand. That way when you’re ready to cook, it’s just that much more of a simple process to do.

  1. Do you add the pickle juice to the milk and egg mixture? Did I miss that?

    • Thanks for pointing this out! It’s in the directions in the post, but not in the recipe – I added it now. Here’s that direction: Put the cut-up chicken into your bag and add the pickle juice. Give it a good shake and put it in the fridge for about 45 minutes or so.
