You only need a few ingredients to make this easy chicken fried rice recipe. You may be able to avoid a trip to the grocery store since most of these ingredients may already be in your pantry.  See the recipe below for a full list of the ingredients and quantities that are needed for this recipe. 

steamed rice – I recommend using chilled cooked rice for this recipe. 

soy sauce – I prefer to use original soy sauce, but you can use low sodium soy sauce if you prefer. 

Substitutions

Coconut aminos: If you don’t have soy sauce you can use coconut aminos instead of the soy sauce. 

Rice: I prefer to use a short-grain white rice, but you can use brown rice or long grain white rice if you already have it on hand.

  • air fryer – You will need at least a six-quart air fryer to make this recipe. 
  • baking pan – that will fit inside of your air fryer. Such as a metal cake pan or pie plate. 

How to Make Air Fryer Chicken Fried Rice

Making this homemade chicken fried rice is simple. Just follow the instructions below and you will have a tasty meal that your entire family will enjoy in no time at all. 

Step 1: Mix together rice, onion, soy sauce, sesame seeds, sesame oil, ginger, and chicken

In a large bowl, mix rice, onion, soy sauce, sesame seeds, sesame oil, ginger, and chicken.

Step 2: Add the rice mixture to a dish that will fit in your air fryer

Place mixture in a dish to fit your air fryer basket.

Step 3: Air fry the rice

Cook at 350 for 5 minutes

Step 4: Add scrambled eggs and cook again

Remove, stir the rice, and add two scrambled eggs to the top. Cook for 3 minutes.

Step 5: Fold in vegetables

Remove and fold in peas and carrots. Cook for 5 minutes.

Step 6: Garnish and serve

Let cool and enjoy. Garnish with more sesame seeds and chopped green onions.

Here are a few tips to help make sure that this air fryer recipe turns out perfectly for you. 

  • Sesame oil really gives this fried recipe a tasty flavor. However, you can leave it out if you are not a fan of the flavor. 
  • White rice really works best for this recipe. Brown rice will have a crunchier texture.
  • I recommend using cold rice or plain leftover rice. So, if you don’t have leftover rice, I suggest that you make the steamed rice ahead of time and store it in the fridge until you are ready to make this recipe.
