Wontons are a type of dumplings that originated from China. However, these air fryer crab wontons are not actually authentic Chinese cuisine. But, I don’t really mind. I think that they’re amazing and one of my favorite things to cook in the air fryer.

Substitutions
Crab meat: If you want a cheaper alternative, you can use imitation crab meat as well. Imitation crab meat isn’t crab at all and tastes a little different, but it’s the best substitute for real crab meat you can get.
Green onions: Chives are the best substitute for green onions since they look very similar and taste the same as well.
Wonton wrappers: You can use egg roll wrappers instead if you don’t have wonton wrappers for crab Rangoon.

How To Make Crab Rangoon
Make a delicious appetizer in under 1 hour by following these easy steps!
Step 1
Start by chopping crab meat in a food processor until it’s finely chopped.
Step 2
In a medium-sized mixing bowl, place the cream cheese, crab, soy sauce, and green onion. Mix on a low setting and mix for 3 minutes.
Step 3
Then, get a piece of wonton wrapper and place one teaspoon of crab mixture at the center of the wonton wrapper. To seal the wonton wrapper, dip a fingertip into some water or egg wash and lightly coat the edges of the wrapper.
Step 4
Pull together the sides of the wrapper to the middle and then seal the sides together with water while letting all the air escape so that it won’t balloon up while air frying and burst open.
Step 5
Place Rangoon in the air fryer basket and spray with nonstick oil or olive oil to ensure that the wrappers don’t stick to the air fryer basket. Cook at 370 degrees for 10 minutes or until golden brown. Then, transfer to a serving dish and enjoy!

FAQs
You can totally leave the crab out if you want to. However, the taste won’t be the same, and it will make fewer servings. Another way is by substituting imitation crab instead of real crab meat. Imitation crabs are processed fish meat and do not contain crab meat, which makes it safe for you to eat if you’re allergic to crabs.
You can store leftover air fryer Rangoons in an airtight container and keep them in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Note that the crispness might fade when the Rangoons are left uneaten, but it’s easy to bring back the crispness when you reheat them in the air fryer again.
Line a tray with parchment paper and place your Rangoons. Let it completely freeze in the freezer before transferring to a freezer bag or container.
