Autumn is my favorite season. I love the cool, crisp air that doesn’t sting my skin the way winter weather does. I love the beautiful colors of the changing leaves.

Most of all, I love the flavors and scents of Fall, especially once the temperatures outside have cooled enough that I’m not afraid to use my oven again. The smell of an apple pie or pumpkin bread baking in the oven surrounding me is like getting a hug from a loved one.

Mom’s Homemade Apple Cider

Last year, a good friend of mine served homemade apple cider at a neighborhood get-together. The aroma of this delicious concoction was a treat in itself. But the warm, soothing liquid was its own delight, especially enjoyable since it counteracted the nip in the air since Autumn nights are crueler than the perfect Autumn daytime temperatures.

I had forgotten about that wonderful cider until the air turned cool again this year and then immediately hunted down a recipe for one I could make myself. Here is the one I found that seems the most like the cider my friend prepared for us last year: Mom’s Homemade Apple Cider.

The result is delicious and worth the wait and effort, but my kids aren’t as patient as I am. Thankfully, Little Passports had a recipe that is easy enough for my children to make and takes less than half an hour to make.

  4. I love apple cider. Thanks for sharing this recipe. The idea of being able to make my own whenever the mood strikes is so exciting, instead of having to wait until fall for stores to start selling it, or making the trek all the way up to my favorite farm several times a year.
