Overnight Cherry Baked French Toast Casserole

This Overnight Cherry Baked French Toast Casserole is an incredibly easy but amazing breakfast dish. Not only can you prep it beforehand, but it’s also so simple you can make it as often as you want.

I love to surprise overnight guests with a decadent breakfast. I just don’t want to get up at dawn to deliver it.

That’s why I really like overnight breakfast casseroles. And my kids are especially fond of baked french toast casseroles.

During the summer, this Make Ahead Blueberry French Toast is one of my favorites. In September, we like to make this Baked Apple French Toast. And in the fall, this Overnight Pumpkinย French Toast is always a hit.

I wanted to try something different for winter and the result is this Overnight Cherry Baked French Toast Casserole.

How to Make Overnight Cherry Baked French Toast Casserole

Like almost EVERY ONE of my recipes, this Overnight Cherry Baked French Toast Casserole is a cinch to make!

Step 1: Make Egg Mixture

First, combine brown sugar and cinnamon in a medium bowl.

Then, add eggs and milk.

Whisk the ingredients together until well combined.

Step 2: Prepare Casserole

Next, add bread slices to a 9×13 casserole and pour the egg mixture over the bread.

Within a few minutes, the bread should soak up most of the liquid.

Now it’s time to top the bread with cherry pie filling.

Cover and refrigerate overnight.

Step 3: Bake

In the morning, remove from the refrigerator and place in oven and then set temperature for 350 degrees. Bake for 35 minutes.

Overnight Cherry Baked French Toast Casserole Recipe

Ingredients
  

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 4 eggs
  • 2/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 15 ounce can cherry pie filling additional can for adding more topping in the morning, if desired
  • 20 slices day-old deli bread we used French

Instructions
 

  • Mix together brown sugar, cinnamon, eggs and milk.
  • Add bread pieces to a large oven-safe casserole (13×9 is good) and pour egg mixture over the bread. Top with cherry pie filling. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  • In the morning, remove from the refrigerator and place in oven and then set temperature for 350 degrees. Bake for 35 minutes. (If using a glass casserole dish, it is imperative that you do not preheat the oven and then place a refrigerated dish in the oven, as it will shatter.)
  • Remove from oven and serve.
