How to Download and Access Digital eBooks and Printable Items
PLEASE NOTE: You requested or purchased a digital document that must be downloaded and saved to your device and/or printed out. A hard copy of the item will not be mailed to you.
Many mobile devices such as phones and ipads, do not allow for downloading through a link so if you are having difficulty, access the file on a computer.
All files are sent using PDF format. Most computers have pre-installed Adobe Reader on them, but if your particular laptop, PC, or mobile device does not have a PDF reader of some sort on it, you’ll need one to view the items. Adobe Reader is the most common one and it’s free. You can download it here.
Files are shared via Dropbox, but you do not need to have a Dropbox account to access and download them. When you click the link to access your files, you just need to click the Download button to save the file to your device.
You will be prompted to sign in or sign up for Dropbox. If you want to save the files to Dropbox (a cloud storage service) you can do so, but you don’t need an account to save the files to your personal device.
If you can’t find the file once it’s downloaded, try looking in the Downloads folder or search the title of the file on your computer for where it could be hiding.
To Access Compressed ZIP files
Some larger files will be sent as compressed ZIP files.
Here’s how to unzip a ZIP file:
On a laptop or PC- save the ZIP file to your computer, right-click and select, “Extract All.” This will create a new file on your computer in which you can open. Then, add the file to iCloud or Dropbox to get the files on your mobile device. On rare occasions, apps on your browser may make things a little wonky during downloading. If this occurs, please try using a different browser.
On a Mac- download the free app, The Unarchiver and install the app on your Mac. This will help you unzip files. Once the app is installed, right-click on the zipped folder and click, “open with” and select The Unarchiver. Then click extract. This will place your unzipped file in the same place as your original zipped file.
On a mobile device- before you download the ZIP file directly to your mobile device, you may need a free app to unzip the product (a good, free one is FileExplorer Free). This will allow you to unzip the folder to access it. Another solution available on some mobile devices is to long hold the zipped file icon and then click, “Extract.”
How to Use Your eBook and/or Printable
Once you download and save the eBook files to your device, there are several ways you can use the file.
OPTION 1: Print out the files on your home printer.
OPTION 2: Save the files to a flash drive and take it to a copy store to be printed. Or, upload the PDF to an online printer and have the printed copy shipped to you. I recommend PrintMe1 due to its ease, affordability, and free shipping.
OPTION 3: Read and use eBooks on a digital device or computer.
How to Assemble eBooks
There are a few ways you can easily assemble your eBooks if you choose to print them out. Here are a few options:
OPTION 1: Print each page and insert it into a clear page protector. Or, purchase an inexpensive laminator to laminate the pages.
Place all of the pages into a binder and use write-on tab dividers to separate the sections. You can use a label maker to mark them if you’re like me and don’t like your handwriting.
You can write on the page protectors or laminated pages with dry erase markers and erase as needed so you can use the pages again and again.
OPTION 2: Use this affordable binding machine to professionally bind your eBook at home.
OPTION 3: Take it to a copy store and have them bind it for you. If you have PrintMe1 print your copy, binding is included.
