Using a mold makes this a super simple recipe that turns out perfectly every single time.

How long do hot cocoa bombs take make?

They really don’t take that long at all. As soon as you let the chocolate set and get hard, they’ll be ready to drop into a mug and enjoy.

This means that you can start and finish this simple dessert in a short amount of time. (and the shorter, the better because these are so good!)

What you’ll need to make Christmas Taffy Hot Cocoa Bombs

Just gather up the list of simple ingredients below to get started. And keep extras on hand too so you can make these again and again.

  • 2 cups Red Candy Melts
  • 2 cups Green Candy Melts
  • 2 cups White Candy Melts
  • 2 cups Hot Chocolate Mix
  • 2 cups Mini Marshmallows
  • Christmas Tree Nugget Candy
  • ½ cup Christmas Sprinkles

Equipment needed for Christmas Taffy Hot Cocoa Bombs

  • Bath bomb molds or cake pop molds

How to make Christmas Taffy Hot Cocoa Bombs

Once you have all the ingredients listed above, you’re ready to start! Here is what you’ll need to do.

Step one

Put the red candy melts into a microwave-safe bowl. Once added, make certain that you melt them according to the directions on the package.

Step two

Put 2 tablespoons of the candy that you just melted into one half of the mold. Take the back of your spoon and smooth it around and up the sides. Do this for all 12 halves.

Step three

Once all the chocolate is added, put them in the Pop the freezer for 5 minutes.

Step four

After five minutes have passed, take them out and gently give the sides a tap. This helps to loosen the chocolate and then you can use your hand to push up on one of the sides then remove the mold.

Step five

Take half of the chocolate molds (6) and put in 2 tablespoons of the hot chocolate mix, a Christmas tree nugget tree, and some mini marshmallows.

Step six

Put a plate in the microwave for a few second to make it warm to the touch.

Step seven

Take one of the empty halves of the molds and put it open-faced down on the plate. Hold it there for 10 seconds to melt the edge slightly.

Step eight

Once it has slightly melted, take and press it down on the other half of the filled mold. This should stick them together and seal once cooled.

Step nine

Melt your green and white candy melts in the microwave and put them into a piping bag or use a fork to drizzle on the top. Don’t forget to add on sprinkles.

Step ten

Once done, pop them back in the freezer for about 5 minutes to firm up.

How to serve Christmas Taffy Hot Cocoa Bombs

This is the easy part! Just place the cocoa bomb in the bottom of a mug and pour 2 cups of hot milk over the top. It will melt through the chocolate and release all the goodies. Then, just stir and enjoy!
