UNIQUE UNICORN PARTY IDEAS

Throwing a unicorn party is really special for little girls. Since unicorns have been so popular for so long it can be hard to find unique ideas to make the party stand out. Here are some fun ideas to make the party extra awesome.

  • We enjoy making unicorn slime and know that all the kids will LOVE that activity.
  • Unicorn Rice Krispie Treats go great with the Candy Unicorn Horns and kids typically like Rice Krispie Treats.
  • Take a big bowl and fill it with pastel-colored mini marshmallows and make a sign that says Unicorn Poop. Put some small cups or bowls and a scoop nearby to make it easy.
  • I have never met a child who didn’t enjoy a pinata and unicorn pinatas are so cute! It is almost hard to break it open because the pinata is so pretty.
  • Another fun treat to serve at a unicorn party are unicorn dessert cups and they can be made up ahead of time.

HOW TO MAKE CANDY UNICORN HORNS

I am not going to lie to you. This is a tedious treat to make, but the end result is so adorable it is worth it to see your child’s smile.

STEP ONE: WARM CANDY

Unwrap 4 pink Starburst candies and place on a microwave-safe plate or paper towel. Place in microwave and heat for 5 seconds.

Please don’t heat for longer than 5 seconds or they will melt and you won’t be able to form the candy into a horn! You are just warming the candy so that it is malleable.

STEP TWO: MOLD CANDY

Be careful as you pick up the candy as it could be hot in some areas.

Using your hands mold each candy into a long, skinny cylinder or snake. Lay them out flat on a piece of wax paper or parchment paper. If you lay them on the counter they will STICK!

STEP THREE: REPEAT

Now repeat the same process as above for the yellow, red and orange Starburst candies.

You should end up with 4 long “snakes” of each color.

STEP FOUR: MAKE BLUE AND PURPLE CANDY

Since Starbursts don’t come in blue or purple we will have to make those colors ourselves using food coloring.

We will mix pink Starburst candies with blue food coloring to make blue and we will mix pink Starburst candies with purple food coloring to make purple.

Heat 4 pink Starburst candies in the microwave for 5 seconds like we did earlier.

Take all four warm pink Starbursts into your hand and mold them into a cup. Place some blue food coloring into the cup and start kneading it with your fingers until the pink candy is consistently blue throughout. I wore gloves to keep my hands from turning blue!

Divide the blue candy into 4 equal sized pieces and mold them into 4 long, skinny cylinders like we did before with the other colors.

Repeat this whole process the same way except use the purple food coloring next to make 4 long, skinny purple cylinders.

STEP FIVE: CREATE ROPE HORN

Make sets that include one of each color. Place the colored ropes next to each other and make sure they are equally long and thick. Line them up on one end.

Pick up one whole set of cylinders and starting at the end where they are all even, begin twisting them together like a rope. Be very gentle when doing this.

Keep the tip you are starting at tighter than the other end by loosening your work as you go.

Work your way down to the bottom and you will create candy unicorn horns.

STEP SIX: ADD STICK

Now using a cake pop stick, gently insert it into the thicker end about 1 inch. If you try to push it too far it will destroy your rope.

STEP SEVEN: COOL

Place the candy unicorn horns into the refrigerator to cool for about 10 minutes.
