Substitutions

Pie Crust: You can use store-bought pie crust or make your own. I like to make my own because it is easy and I can control the ingredients, but store-bought is fine too.

Extract: I used vanilla extract in the filling, but you could also use almond extract or even hazelnut extract.

How to Make Air Fryer Nutella Pop Tarts

These pop tarts come together in just a few simple steps, and they are well worth the effort. If you are looking for an easy and delicious homemade breakfast recipe, then this is the recipe for you.

Step 1: Mix together the wet ingredients

In a mixing bowl, mix the sugar, milk and vanilla. Set aside.

Step 2: Roll out the pie crust

On a flat floured surface, roll out the pie crust and cut out 3″ x 4″ rectangles.

Step 3: Fill the pop tarts with Nutella

Two rectangles make one pop tart. Place 1-2 tablespoons of Nutella in the center of a rectangle and spread it out leaving a 1/4″ edge.

Step 4: Make an egg wash

In a cup or a bowl, beat the egg to create an egg wash.

Step 5: Seal the pop tarts

Wash the edge of the rectangle with the egg and place the top rectangle on. Press out the air and seal the edges. Using a fork or a crimper, crimp the edges of the pop tart.

Step 6: Egg wash the pop tarts

Brush the top of the pop tart with the egg wash and using a toothpick, poke air holes.

Step 7: Air Fry the pop tarts

Place tart in an oiled air fryer basket and cook on 350° for 6 minutes or until golden brown.

Step 8: Frost and decorate the top

Let cool to room temp and then ice and sprinkle the tart.
