Air Fryer Chicken Breast and Potatoes ingredients.

You only need a few simple ingredients to help you make this delicious recipe. All of these ingredients are easy to find at your local grocery store, or you may even have them on hand in your pantry already. 

potatoes – I prefer to use russet potatoes because they turn nice and crisp in the air fryer. But, you can also use baby potatoes that are cut in half. 

chicken breast – I use boneless skinless chicken breasts with the fat trimmed. 

dried herbs – I like to use a seasoning blend like Italian seasoning. 

paprika – I prefer to use regular paprika for this recipe, but you can also use smoked paprika if that’s what you have on hand. 

Substitutions

Potatoes: If you want to make this recipe low carb, you can use radishes instead of potatoes.  

Chicken: Instead of chicken breast, you could also use boneless skinless chicken thighs to make this recipe. 

Variations / Options / Add-Ins

Spicy: If you like a little bit of heat, add some red pepper flakes to the seasoning mix. 

Vegetarian: To make this recipe vegetarian, use firm tofu instead of chicken. 

Cheesy: You can toss the potatoes and chicken in one-half cup of parmesan cheese to make this recipe cheesy.

You only need a few kitchen tools to help you make this delicious recipe. 

  • air fryer – I have an 8 quart air fryer, but you can use a smaller air fryer and cook in batches. 
  • large mixing bowl – You will need a large bowl, but you can use a glass or stainless steel bowl. 

How to Make Air Fryer Chicken Breast and Potatoes

Making this recipe is so easy. Just follow the instructions below and you will have a family-friendly meal in no time at all. 

Step 1: Season the potatoes

Put the chopped potatoes in a bowl, add salt and half of the spices, as well as 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Mix everything.

Step 2: Air fry the potatoes 

Transfer the potatoes to the air fryer basket in one or two layers. Bake for 10 minutes at 400F.

Step 3: While the potatoes are cooking season the chicken

Transfer the chopped chicken fillet to a bowl, add salt and the remaining spices, and olive oil. Mix everything thoroughly.

Step 4: Air fry the chicken

Move the fried potatoes to the side so that it occupies only half of the grate. Put the chicken fillet in spices on the second half of the grate. Roast the chicken and potatoes for another 12 minutes at 400F.

Step 5: Check for doneness

After 12 minutes, if the chicken and potatoes are not browned enough, turn them over and fry for another 3 minutes at 400F.

  • If you don’t have an air fryer, you can also bake this recipe in the oven.  Preheat your oven to 400F and bake for 25 minutes or until chicken is cooked through. 
  • You can also use coconut oil for this recipe if you don’t want to use olive oil. 
  • When you are cooking your potatoes, do not overcrowd the air fryer, so you may need to cook them in batches. Overcrowding will lead to soggy potatoes.
