WHAT IS A TEEN SCAVENGER HUNT?
Scavenger hunts have been going on for a very long time and there are lots of different ways to play.
The object of the game is to be the first person or team to find all of the items on the list. A scavenger hunt can be specifically geared to indoors or outdoors. I enjoy doing indoor scavenger hunts when the weather is bad.
The hunt can be limited to someone’s yard or home. It could also be a hunt around a neighborhood or town.
This teen scavenger hunt is designed for teens to look for the items around their town. These are items that should be easy to spot in almost any town or city location.

WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR ON A SCAVENGER HUNT?
The purpose of doing a scavenger hunt is to have fun. I want the items I am looking for to be available and not too difficult.
There is nothing worse than going on a scavenger hunt and not being able to locate most of the items on the list. That can really dampen the fun of the activity.
This particular scavenger hunt has basic items that would be found around a city. There may be some items that are a little more specific such as a red truck. It may take you a little longer to spot a specific color of vehicle, but that will add to the fun and competition.
Teens can take a picture of each item they locate as “proof” that they found the item. A lot of kids like to take a selfie with each item on the list.
REMIND TEENS ABOUT SAFETY
I always want to point out that there are safety tips needed to make sure the teens stay safe during the hunt. Hunting in small teams is the best way to go in my opinion.
Remind the kids to stick together and watch for cars! Always give the host’s phone number to each group in case they need to call for assistance.
It is also a good idea to remind them of the rules about private property and to be respectful of people they may encounter.
I may get a few eye rolls when I go over safety tips, but it is worth it to make sure everyone gets home in one piece!
