Copycat Butterbeer Frappuccino
I wish there’s a way we can actually visit Hogsmeade, but this homemade butterbeer frappuccino recipe is the closest thing we can get right now, or this Butterbeer Ice Cream.
The flavors in this drink are absolutely mind-blowing! You may think at first that it’s impossible to make such a perfect drink at home but it’s all about the magic, right?
It just takes a couple of minutes of time and you’ll have your own Harry Potter frappuccino that is so much cheaper than Starbucks. (and just as tasty, too!)

Substitutions and Additions
Caffeine: Some people just need that extra caffeine in their drinks. To make this delicious frappe into a caffeinated version, you can simply substitute around ¼ cup of your milk with espresso/coffee. Of course, the flavor and color of the drink will slightly change, but the essence is still there.
Sugar: Just like the one I did, you can use yellow sanding sugar instead of regular sugar just to make your drink a little fancier and on-theme.
Milk: You can substitute regular milk with almond milk, soy milk, or coconut milk if you are lactose intolerant.

How To Make Homemade Butterbeer Frappuccino
Step 1
First, combine 2 cups of milk, 3 tablespoon sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste, and 4 tablespoon butterscotch sauce in your mixing cup. Stir everything up and make sure everything it’s well combined. I used yellow sanding sugar or the “butterbeer sugar” as requested by my kids. There’s really not much difference, just a little fancier.
Step 2
After stirring up your butterscotch milk mixture, add it into the blender along with 4 cups of ice. Put your blender on a high-speed setting to get an evenly blended mixture. Keep blending until you get your desired texture.
Step 3
Get your glass, rim it with butterscotch sauce for a more wizardly effect, and slowly pour in your blended frappe. I like to lightly tap my glass on the table while pouring the frappe in just to maximize the space of the glass. Finish by topping it with toffee chunks or whatever toppings you desire for garnishing.
Step 4
Sit back and enjoy your drink.
Add-Ins
- Whipped cream
- Caramel drizzle
- A dash of Xanthum Gum
- Cinnamon syrup/powder
Tips
Here are some other great options to add some flavor to your butterbeer frappuccino:
- Add a pump of cinnamon dolce syrup
- Add a dash of cinnamon powder
- Add a dash of pumpkin powder spice
FAQs
Just like any other frappuccinos, you can store your leftover butterbeer frappuccino inside your freezer, and you can leave it there frozen for almost a month.
For your leftover frappes that have been frozen for days, you can always blend them again to achieve that frappe consistency and rim your glass with the butterscotch sauce again, so it’s good as new.
Certain blenders do not have that much power to blend ice evenly, which leads to bigger chunks of ice in your drink. This is why it is essential to use high-speed blenders to make sure that everything is blended smoothly and nicely.
