This Triple Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix in a Jar is the perfect easy gift for chocolate lovers. The mix makes chocolate cookies with two kinds of chocolate chips!
I’m a huge fan of mason jar gifts. They’re easy, adorable, and have a nice personal touch that makes them more special than an item purchased at a store.
The trick is to choose the right gift in a jar for each person. For example, this Irish Coffee gift in a jar is ideal for coffee lovers. And this Motherhood Journal Jar is perfect for a new mom, your own mother, or any mom on Mother’s Day.
Since I’m a chocolate lover and have a lot of friends who also love chocolate, I can say with great certainty that this Triple Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix in a Jar is one any chocolate lover will enjoy.
You’ll layer all of the dry ingredients in the jar. The recipient just needs to add butter, eggs, and vanilla to create the batter.
At the bottom of this post you’ll find free printable gift cards with the baking instructions that you can attach to the gift jar.
How to Make Triple Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix in a Jar

Jar gifts are so visually appealing because of the neat layered look. So, the only thing you have to focus on is layering the ingredients evenly.
To keep ingredients from sticking to the sides, the layering works best if you use a funnel.
Layer 1: Flour
The first layer is the flour. For this recipe, we need 1 1/4 cups.
Layer 2: Leavening Agents and Salt
Next, we add critical baking ingredients, starting with half a teaspoon of baking soda.
And also half a teaspoon of baking powder.
Plus a quarter teaspoon of salt.
Layer 3: First Dose of Chocolate
Now, it’s time to make these CHOCOLATE cookies. Pour in a layer of unsweetened cocoa.
Layer 4: Make it Sweet!
These are cookies, after all. So now it’s time to bring on the brown sugar.
Layer 5: Make it Sweeter
And, of course, we also need some granulated sugar.
Layer 6: Second Dose of Chocolate
This gift is for chocolate lovers so we’re going to need to add more chocolate. Add in a half cup of semisweet chocolate chips.
Layer 7: Final Dose of Chocolate!
We’re almost done! Your jar should be almost full. There’s just enough room for a half cup of white baking chips.
Packaging the Gift
Now that we have all of the necessary dry ingredients for some yummy, decadent triple chocolate chip cookies inside the jar, it’s time to finish packaging this chocolate lover’s gift.
Tighten the lid on the top of the jar.
Print and cut out the holiday printable gift tag (download the printable at the bottom of this post).
Punch a hole in the upper corner of the tag.
Run a ribbon or string through the hole in the tag. Wrap the ribbon around the bottom rim of the jar lid and tie it in a bow.

We tried making these jars and it didnโt come near filling them to the top. It was just about halfway up before the chocolate chips. Any idea why?
I can’t imagine. It’s unlikely you were using too large of a jar since quart jars are typically the biggest (common) ones. The flour and sugar alone should get you past the halfway point. And the chips typically take up a lot of space. I did add some extra chips to fill up the very top, but you should have been nearly there. After seeing your comment, I went to the kitchen and tried again to be sure and the amounts in the recipe filled the jar nearly to the top. I’m stumped!
At what temperature and how long do you bake? I cat find that
The directions for baking the cookies are on the printable card. You bake them for 350 degrees for 12 – 15 minutes.
