Why do we Give Gifts to Teachers?
Teachers have a very thankless job. They are with our children for more waking hours each day than we are most of the time.
Receiving a small gift reminds them that they are appreciated and cared about. Feeling appreciated is one of the most important things for an employee.
- Teachers dedicate countless hours to preparing lessons, grading papers, and interacting with students, and a small gift can be a tangible way to show that you appreciate their hard work.
- A gift can symbolize the positive impact a teacher has had on your child’s education and personal growth.
- Even small gestures can make a big difference in a teacher’s morale and encourage them to want to continue their dedication to their profession.
- It will make the teacher feel supported and can set a positive tone for future interactions and encourage open communication between you and your child’s teacher.
Creative Ways to Use This Printable
A hand sanitizer teacher’s gift is such a useful and thoughtful gesture. Here are some creative ways to use it:
- Put it in a small pencil box or makeup bag along with things like lip balm. tea bags, chocolate, sticky notes and a cute pen. Label the box or bag “Teacher Emergency Kit.”
- In the fall, pair it with pumpkin-scented sanitizer and attach a mini fall leaf or mini gourd that they could add to their desk as a decoration.
- During winter, use peppermint sanitizer and place it in a mitten or glove.
- In the spring, tie the tag to a mini watering can with hand sanitizer inside.
- This gift could also be given to other school staff members like the office staff, nurse, custodian, librarian, food service workers, etc.

Materials Needed
This DIY gift idea only requires 3 supply items. It is simple to make multiple gifts if you plan to give these to a lot of the school staff.

- Bottle(s) of hand sanitizer: Any brand or scent is fine (unless you know the teacher has a specific preference). You can choose any size, but an 8 or 12 ounce size bottle would probably fit nicely on their desk.
- Ribbon: The ribbon needs to fit through the hole in the gift tag, so it should be 1/8 inch wide. Red ribbon would match the apple on the tag, but you can always just use whatever ribbon you already have.
- Printable Gift Tags: You can get these tags by filling in the form below.
Equipment Needed / Helpful Tools for Printables
Printer: This one is a great budget printer. If you’re willing to spend just a little more though, this is a better option. And if you’re looking for an all-in-one home office machine, this one does it all, has high reviews and includes 2 years of ink.
Ink cartridges: Speaking of ink, this is where the cost of using printables can really add up! To save BIG on ink, buy it from CompAndSave.com. It’s substantially cheaper than anywhere else and they carry ink for all major printer brands and models.
Printer paper or cardstock: Since you’re using this as a gift tag, you want it be sturdy so it’s best to choose cardstock.
Cutter: If you want nice, clean cuts, a paper cutter is a must-have. This is a great one if you plan on using it a lot. But this one is totally sufficient if you want something solid and reliable for occasional use.
On a tight budget? Go with this one. Or, use a good pair of scissors and a sturdy ruler.
Binder or Folder: If you’re using page protectors for your printables, binders are such an easy way to keep them together and organized. I love this colorful set. If you prefer to stick with standard white though, this set is highly rated and very affordable. And if you need larger binders, this set is terrific. If you go with folders, I like these.
Hole Punch: A hole punch with a soft grip handle is nice to have, especially if you’re making several of these or if your kids are helping punch the holes.
Sticker paper: Instead of tags, you could print these as stickers and stick them on the hand sanitizer bottle! You just need sticker paper.
How To Make a Hand Sanitizer Teacher Gift
If you have five minutes you have time to make an easy teacher gift.
Step 1: Print the tag
The adorable printable tag for the hand sanitizer gift says “Call on me when you need a hand.”
There are 3 tags on the PDF. Print as many copies as you will need. I like to print these off on white cardstock so they are sturdy.

Print the tags by filling in the form below.
Step 2: Cut out the tag
After printing these off use scissors or a paper trimmer to cut the tags apart.
Step 3: Punch a Hole
Now use a regular sized hole punch to punch a hole in the top left corner of the gift tag.

Step 4: Attach the tag
Take a piece of ribbon and thread it through the hole and tie it onto the top of the hand sanitizer bottle. Tie it into a bow and you are done!
Give this to the teacher on the first day of school or anytime during the school year.
