Back when I used to count every calorie, I hated smoothies. Why would I drink my calories, when I could savor them in something else that would allow me bite after bite of delicious goodness?
This was one of many beliefs that changed when I had kids. Life as a busy mom makes it hard to find time to get all of your key nutrients everyday.
Smoothies are such an easy and convenient way to get a whole heap of important vitamins, minerals and antioxidants in just a few minutes. Plus, kids love them so it’s a great way to help them eat healthy, even if they normally turn their nose up at fresh fruits and vegetables.
What I Love About This Blueberry Spinach Smoothie
I love experimenting with different combinations in my smoothies. I have a basic smoothie formula I use for combining ingredients and I used it as the base for choosing ingredients for this one.
Following the formula, I loaded this smoothie with protein, calcium, probiotics, antioxidants, plus a variety of essential vitamins and minerals. This blueberry spinach smoothie is loaded with superfoods that pack a powerful healthy punch.
Blueberry Spinach Smoothie Recipe
To make this blueberry spinach smoothie, you just need:
Blueberries (fresh or frozen)
Banana (fresh or frozen)
Spinach (fresh or frozen)
And a spoonful of chia seeds if you really want to load up on super foods.
If you used a frozen ingredient, you won’t need to add any ice for a thick, slushy-like consistency. If you opted for all fresh ingredients, you’ll want to add a few ice cubes.
Combine all of the ingredients in your blender (I use a Ninja single serving cup) and blend well.

- 1 cup greek yogurt
- 1 cup wild blueberries fresh or thawed
- 1 1/2 cups packed spinach fresh preferred
- 1/2 - 1 frozen banana
- 1 Tablespoon chia seeds optional
Place all ingredients in a smoothie blender and puree until smooth.
Taste and adjust ingredients as desired.
