No matter if this is your first garden or your hundredth, these are just a few of the simple plants that you can grow with ease. Growing a garden shouldn’t be stressful…it should be fun and relaxing instead!

5 Plants to Grow In Your Garden With Ease

Here’s the secret about growing ANYTHING in your garden. It’s really not that hard to do! All you need to worry about is having good soil, good sunlight and plenty of water. Most people don’t realize that vegetables planted and growing in the garden are actually quite resilient.

If you have a vision for how you want your garden to grow, you can absolutely make it a reality. It’s time to make this year the best garden year ever. These plants are ones that you need to get planted right away!

1. Tomatoes

There is nothing like a fresh, ripe tomato straight out of the garden. (They cook the best meals, too!) Even the most inexperienced gardener can grow tomatoes. They flourish with minimal time and attention.

When you pick them, I can’t stress enough to take them right inside, wash them and eat them right away. They’ll be nice and warm from the sun…and that tomato juice flavor just can’t be topped.

Plant big ones (e.g. Big Boys or Beefsteak tomatoes) or little ones (e.g. cherry tomatoes) … just make certain to plant them. You won’t regret it!

2. Cilantro

Cilantro is one of those herbs that can literally go on everything. It’s so fresh and delicious it adds a pop to any dish.

It’s wonderful on salads, sandwiches and even homemade soups. (Tacos, anyone?) Plus, it’s quick growing and produces quite a bit!

Just make certain to keep an eye on it because it will grow quickly and once it reaches a certain point, it’s not the same taste or texture any longer.

3. Kale

There’s a reason that people call Kale a superfood. While it may be packed with nutrients and great food, it’s also a plant that literally grows all year long. Plant kale once and you’ll be feeding yourself for months!

Many people tend to shy away from kale because of the texture, but it’s really not that bad. Add it to soups or salads and you’ll get a healthy dose of great nutrients.

Toss a handful into your smoothie for a quick and easy health boost. Kale truly is one of the most nutrient dense foods so it’s a great one to grow yourself to easily add to your meals.

4. Cucumbers

As long as you have your soil tested and make certain you aren’t missing out on any key nutrients, cucumbers are one of the easiest vegetables to grow. Not only are they simple, but they’ll also produce quite a few at a time.

Start looking up your recipes now so you don’t let any of them go to waste! Cucumbers are great on salads or are a low carb way to enjoy cheeses and foods without having the added guilt of the bread.

5. Lettuce

Just like kale, lettuce is super simple to grow. It won’t keep coming back as often or as easily as kale but it’s still a solid choice for growing a good and easy plant in your garden. Plus, who doesn’t love being able to enjoy a delicious salad made with lettuce and tomato from their own garden?

How do you keep animals out of your garden?

Animals love plants just as much as you do. They’re just trying to eat like you are…right? While it might be that simple, it’s still frustrating when you’ve invested that much time and effort into your garden.

One of the easiest ways to keep out animals is to put a light metal screen over the top of your plants. But keep in mind you can only do this if you’re planting plants that don’t have to grow up towards the sky to grow. Plants like kale, lettuce, and cucumbers would be fine, but this wouldn’t be a good solution for cilantro and tomatoes.

If the animals that are nibbling on your plants are small, just build up a small fence to surround your garden instead. That way you can keep them out with ease and not have to worry about a furry “friend” eating all your garden crop.

When should you water your garden?

The best time of the day to water your garden is to do it early in the morning or later in the afternoon, close to sunset. Watering during the hottest part of the day with the sun beating down can make the leaves wilt and shrivel up.

If you’re looking for easy plants for your garden, these five options mentioned above are the ones for you! You’ll love the amount of food that they produce. Plus, you literally hardly have to put out any effort in taking care of them and helping them grow. It really can’t get much more simple than that!
