Equipment

  • Loaf pan
  • Microwave-safe bowls

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup orange candy melts
  • ¾ cup yellow candy melts
  • 9-12 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk
  • ¾ cup white chocolate chips or candy melts

Instructions

  • Line a loaf pan or small baking tray, 9" x 4" or similar with foil or parchment paper. Spray the top of the foil or parchment with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Place each color of candy melt in a separate microwave-safe bowl.
¾ cup orange candy melts, ¾ cup yellow candy melts, ¾ cup white chocolate chips or candy melts
  • Melt the white candy coating or chocolate chips first, heating for 30 seconds, stirring well, and reheating as needed.
  • Stir in 3-4 tablespoons of sweetened condensed milk, to taste (the more milk you use, the softer the final texture). Fold the mixture into the prepared loaf pan. Use an offset spatula or the back of a spoon to smooth down this layer and place in the fridge for 10 - 15 minutes.
    9-12 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk
  • Repeat steps with the orange candy coating: heating, adding the sweetened condensed milk, smoothing over the white fudge layer, refrigerate.
  • Finish with the yellow candy coating.
  • Refrigerate for 3 hours or overnight before cutting into squares and serving.

Notes

Pro Tips

  • When melting candy melts or chocolate, use a microwave at 50% power to avoid overheating, which can cause the chocolate to seize or burn.
  • Allow each layer to set in the fridge for a few minutes before adding the next layer. This helps keep the layers distinct and prevents them from blending together.
  • If you have silicone molds, they can be a great alternative to a loaf pan, as they don’t require lining and make popping out the candy easier.
  • Dip your knife in hot water, wipe it dry, and then use it to cut the candy. The warm knife will glide through the candy more smoothly, giving you cleaner cuts.

Recipe FAQs

How do you store this Halloween fudge?
Store the finished candy in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. Humidity can cause candy to become sticky, so store it in a cool, dry place.

If you need to store it longer, keep it in the fridge (usually about 10 - 15 minutes) and let it come to room temperature before serving to maintain the best texture.

How do I prevent the layers from mixing together?
Make sure each layer is slightly set in the fridge before adding the next one. This will help keep the layers distinct.

Why did my candy mixture become lumpy or grainy?
This can happen if the candy melts or chocolate are overheated, causing them to seize. To prevent this, melt the candy melts or chocolate slowly, using a microwave at 50% power and stir frequently.
