Equipment

  • Small bowl (1-2 cups)
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Large mixing bowl (4-5 quarts)

Ingredients

  • 1 head broccoli
  • 1 apple
  • ¼ cup raisins
  • ¼ cup pecans or walnuts
  • ½ cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, honey and some salt and pepper. Adjust to taste and set aside.
½ cup plain Greek yogurt, 2 tablespoons mayonnaise, 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar, 1 tablespoon honey, salt and pepper
  • Chop the broccoli and apple into bite-sized pieces and put in a bowl.
    1 head broccoli, 1 apple
  • Then, add the raisins and pecans or walnuts.
¼ cup raisins, ¼ cup pecans or walnuts
  • Combine the dressing and the salad. Start with just a couple of tablespoons and add more gradually until it’s coated to your taste. Make sure you mix the salad well to coat the ingredients.
  • You can serve the broccoli salad right away or leave it in the refrigerator for a couple of hours to intensify the flavors. The ingredients hold up well, and the flavor really develops as the dressing has time to soak into the broccoli and apples.

Notes

Pro Tips

  • Cut the florets into bite-sized pieces so they’re easier to eat and get coated evenly with the dressing.
  • Make sure your broccoli and apples are dry after washing because excess moisture can water down the dressing.
  • Lightly toasting the pecans or walnuts enhances their flavor and adds even more crunch.
  • Everyone’s preference for sweetness or tang is different—taste the dressing before mixing and adjust the honey, vinegar, or salt as needed.

Recipe FAQs

What’s the best type of apple to use?
Crisp and sweet varieties like Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Gala work best. They hold their shape and add just the right amount of sweetness.

Can I make this broccoli salad ahead of time?
Yes! It actually tastes better after it sits in the fridge for at least 30 minutes. You can make it up to a day ahead—just wait to add the nuts until serving to keep them crunchy.

How long does it last in the fridge?
This salad stays fresh for 2–3 days when stored in an airtight container. Just give it a stir before serving.
