Equipment

  • Cookie Sheet
  • Parchment paper or Silicone baking mat
  • Medium or large mixing bowl
  • Cookie scoop
  • Wire rack

Ingredients

  • 1 box strawberry cake mix any brand
  • cup vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • ¼ cup Valentine sprinkles
  • 12 Wilton candy hearts

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or use a silicone baking mat.
  • Put the strawberry cake mix, vegetable oil, eggs, flour and sprinkles in the mixing bowl.
1 box strawberry cake mix, ⅓ cup vegetable oil, 2 eggs, 2 tablespoons flour, ¼ cup Valentine sprinkles
  • Mix the ingredients until they’re well combined.
  • Use a small cookie scoop to shape the cookie dough into 2" balls and place on the baking sheet 2-3" a part.
  • Bake the cookies for about 8-10 minutes until the edges are set and the center doesn’t look wet or raw, but is still soft. You can test this by gently pressing the top; it should spring back slightly without sinking.
  • Remove from the oven, let cool about 2-3 minutes and gently press one candy heart on the top of each cookie. After placing the hearts, let the cookies cool completely on the cookie sheet for 5-10 more minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
  • After the cookies completely cool, about 15-20 minutes, they’re ready for you to serve and enjoy with your friends and family.

Notes

Pro Tips

  • If your dough feels sticky, chill it for 20–30 minutes before scooping.
  • It’s recommended to use parchment paper or a silicone baking mat because greasing the pan can make the cookies spread too much.
  • Be careful to not overmix your cookie dough or your cookies may end up dense instead of soft and chewy.
  • The cookies will look slightly soft in the center but firm up as they cool — overbaking makes them dry.
  • Cooling on the sheet for 5–10 minutes, then transferring to a wire rack for 15–20 minutes prevents breakage and helps them set properly
