Equipment

  • Microwave safe bowl
  • Wax paper

Ingredients

  • 8 Nutter Butter cookies
  • 1 cup White chocolate melts or vanilla almond bark
  • 16 Mini chocolate chip morsels or mini candy eyeballs

Instructions

  • Melt the candy coating according to package directions being careful not to overheat the candy. If the candy coating is overheated, it will be too thick. If you accidentally overheat, add a small bit of vegetable oil or shortening to help thin the candy. Do not add any other type of liquid though because it will cause the chocolate to seize and harden.
1 cup White chocolate melts or vanilla almond bark
  • Using a spoon or fork, drizzle chocolate over half of each cookie. Tap the cookie with your finger or a clean utensil to help the candy coating move into a smooth, ghostly shape.

Recipe FAQs

How do I store these cookies?
Store in an airtight container at room temperature until ready to serve. Don’t put them in the refrigerator. Nutter Butters tend to absorb moisture and will get soft if you store them in the fridge.
What do I do if the candy melts become thick?
Microwave the candy melts again and stir until you get the thin consistency that you need to dip the cookies. If it’s very thick, add a little vegetable oil or a teaspoon of shortening.
What are some creative ways to present or serve Nutter Butter Ghosts?
You can serve them on a Halloween platter, or on a regular platter surrounded by Halloween candy like pumpkins and candy corn.
