Cake Mix Waffles

These cake mix waffles are light, fluffy, and perfect for breakfast or dessert.

Equipment

  • waffle iron
  • Large mixing bowl

Ingredients

  • 15.25 ounces Golden Cake Mix plus ingredients called for on the box

Instructions

  • Plug in the waffle iron and preheat it while you mix up the batter.
  • While the iron preheats, make the batter according to the directions on the back of the cake mix box.
  • Once the iron is ready, spray the waffle iron plates with nonstick cooking spray and add about 1/2 cup of batter onto the iron.
  • Close the lid and cook for 4 minutes or until the waffle is done. Repeat the cooking process until all the batter is used.

Notes

  • Be careful to not overmix the batter, mix until just combined. 
  • Mix in any add-ins that you want to use at the very end, do not overmix them. 
  • Make sure you have a hot waffle iron before you make your first waffle. 
  • If your waffle iron is not non-stick, spray it well with non-stick cooking spray before you pour in the batter.
  • Use a spatula to help remove the waffles from the iron without breaking them. 
  • If you want to serve these waffles for dessert, top them with a scoop of ice cream. 
  • You could also stir in some rainbow sprinkles to make these more festive.
  • Kids love these waffles when they are topped with a drizzle of chocolate syrup and a dollop of whipped cream. 
  • You could also top them with maple syrup or pancake syrup.
