Easter Chocolate Covered Strawberries

These Easter Chocolate Covered Strawberries are festive, easy to make, and will look great on your dessert table.

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Mixing bowls
  • toothpicks

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Fresh Strawberries
  • 1/3 cup Candy Melts each in 5-6 different pastel colors, total of 1 2/3 to 2 cups candy melts
  • 2 Tablespoons Coconut Oil or Shortening as needed

Instructions

  • Wash and dry the strawberries. Then remove the stem and set aside.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside.
  • Add the candy melts to microwave safe bowls.
  • Melt the candy melts one color at a time in the microwave for 25 seconds.
  • After the 25 seconds stir, and repeat if needed until the candy melts are smooth.
  • Insert a toothpick into the top of the strawberry.
  • Use the toothpick to roll the strawberry into the melted candy wafers until completely coated.
  • Place the coated strawberry on a prepared baking sheet.
  • Repeat until all the strawberries are coated.
  • Allow the candy melts to harden before serving or storing.

Notes

  • If your candy melts are thick, add the coconut oil or vegetable shortening to thin it out.
  • Want to add a topping to your strawberries? Make sure to do so before the chocolate coating hardens.
  • For a little extra pizazz you can melt some additional candy melts and use a piping bag to drizzle a different color on top of the strawberries.
  • To prevent condensation add a couple paper towels to the bottom of your storage container.
