Notes

  • If you want to use homemade sugar cookies instead of store-bought, make sure that your cookies are completely cooled before you dip them in the melted white candy melts.
  • While you are dipping, if the candy melts start to thicken back up, you can pop it back in the microwave for 10-second increments to help thin it out again.
  • The candy canes will stick best if you do them right after dipping the cookies in the chocolate. If you wait too long, the candy will not stick as well.
  • I use a ziploc bag and a rolling pin to make my crushed candy canes, but you can also use a food processor if you prefer.
  • If you want a little peppermint flavor to your white chocolate, add a couple of drops of peppermint extract to the melted white chocolate.
  • I've found that it's easier to apply the candy canes by sprinkling them on top of the cookies as soon as you dip them.
