Why I Use CoSchedule for Content Marketing

After years of trying multiple social media scheduling tools, I’ve finally settled on one that does almost everything. I now use CoSchedule for content marketing. Today, I’m going to share why I chose this tool instead of the many others available to hopefully save you the time and trouble of shopping around.

If you’ve never heard of CoSchedule, start with this brief video that explains what it is.

Manage from Within WordPress

One of CoSchedule’s best features (in my opinion) is the ability to schedule your social media shares from within WordPress. I love being able to see my entire editorial calendar (including social content) in one view.

Auto-Calculates Best Time to Post

Another thing I love about CoSchedule is that it saves me the trouble of digging through the analytics of each social media platform to find the optimal posting time. CoSchedule does that work for me if I want it to, by letting me select “Best Time” as the posting time.

If you’d rather be in charge of choosing the best time to post, you can do that too. You can choose the dates, times and platforms for all of your shares.

Makes it Easy to Schedule Multiple Shares at One Time

With CoSchedule, I can set up dozens of social shares for each blog post in just a matter of minutes, all in one place. The default days are: Same day, next day, one week later, and one month later. But you can also use the “custom date” section to schedule shares on any day(s) of your choosing.

Before I signed up for CoSchedule, I would share each of my posts once on each social media network on the day I posted. If it was a seasonal post, I might remember to re-share it the following year. Now that I can schedule dozens of shares at one time, each post is promoted multiple times on all of my networks. Less time spent scheduling but more social shares (i.e. more traffic!) – THIS was a major change to my content marketing game.

Shows Your Top Content and Simplifies Re-Shares

In analytics, CoSchedule shows your top content. Once a month I like to check this report and reschedule shares for those posts to keep the momentum going.

When you click the “Share” button in the right column, it opens the regular share scheduler (see above in the section on scheduling multiple shares at once). In a matter of minutes, I can schedule social shares of my most popular content for the entire month.

Schedules to ALL of my Networks

There are plenty of schedulers that will post to Facebook, Twitter, and maybe even Google+ for you. A few others will take care of Instagram for you. Some others focus solely on Pinterest. CoSchedule lets you schedule them ALL.

I schedule to Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google+ and Instagram. You can also schedule to Tumblr and LinkedIn if you choose.

Makes it Easy to Share Others’ Content

We all know that constant self-promotion isn’t the best marketing strategy. No matter how good your content is, you can’t cover EVERYTHING. You have more credibility (and build good karma) when you share other content with your audience besides your own work.

CoSchedule has a Chrome extension that makes it super easy to share relevant content with your followers. Simply click on the extension icon in your Chrome toolbar and edit and schedule the message.

Makes it Easy to Auto-Fill My Social Content Calendar

CoSchedule rolled out a feature called ReQueue that made it ridiculously easy to set your content marketing on auto pilot. Whenever you schedule a social share, you can choose whether or not to toggle on ReQueue.

If you turn it on, that social media message is stored in a content library from which ReQueue will pull to fill in the gaps in your social schedule.

In a nutshell, the main reason I use CoSchedule for my content marketing is that it does basically everything I want and need in a scheduling tool, in a super easy and convenient format.
