Viva Las Vegas! While it’s a city best known for its glitzy nightclubs and chiming slot machines, there’s a lot more to Vegas than what meets the eye. Here are just nine places you’ll want to check out the next time you’re in the City of Lights.
1. Shark Reef
Who wants to swim with dolphins when you can swim with sharks? Shark Reef calls itself the world’s only “predator-based aquarium,” meaning that it’s full of sharks, sting rays, piranha and lots of other deadly killers from under the blue. Do you have what it takes to brave the waters?
2. The National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement
Known to the locals as the “Mob Museum,” this museum houses pictures, letters and artifacts documenting the lives and crimes of famous mobsters like Al Capone. Visitors will also learn about things like the origins of the FBI and how law enforcement officials have tried to stop the mob over the years.
3. The Vegas Strip
It’s one of the most famous streets in the world, and once you walk down it, you’ll understand why. Casinos, restaurants and resorts all line the sidewalk, and whether you’re looking for great cuisine or luxury hotels like Bluegreen Resorts, you can find it all here.
4. Wynn Las Vegas Casino
You can’t visit Vegas without visiting at least one casino. Fortunately, the Wynn offers so much to see and do that it might just be the only casino you’ll need to enter the entire time you’re in Vegas! Your wallet will thank you afterwards.
5. Exotics Racing
Do you dream of breaking the sound barrier in a Lamborghini or Ferrari? Exotics Racing gives you the chance to do just that. For a fee, you’ll be allowed to race around the Las Vegas Motor Speedway like you’ve always wanted but never dared.
6. The Pinball Hall of Fame
If you like playing games but don’t want to lose any money in the casinos, consider dropping by the Pinball Hall of Fame. More than 200 antique pinball games are carefully preserved and fully playable, so you can have a blast without sacrificing any of your travel funds.
7. SlotZilla Zip Line
Who says you need a mountain to zip line? With SlotZilla, you can soar over the heads of your friends right in the heart of Las Vegas. It’s a great way to get a little exercise despite being landlocked in an urban metropolis.
8. The Adventuredome
If zip lining doesn’t offer enough thrills for you, consider hitting up the Adventuredome. It contains an entire series of record-breaking roller coasters, including ones that drop, loop, double loop, barrel roll and everything in between. If you don’t lose your lunch, you’ll have the time of your life!
9. Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area
It’s a little outside of Las Vegas, so you’ll need to rent a car to get there, but the experience is entirely worth it. If you’re looking for fresh air, rugged trails and a chance to get away from it all, this conservation area is exactly what you need.
Whether you’re interested in hiking, gambling or swimming with nature’s scariest predators, these are just nine places where you can get your kicks in Las Vegas. Have fun!
