“I participated in an Influencer Activation Program on behalf of Influence Central for Sprint. I received a sample device to facilitate this review.”
Ten years ago, I couldn’t imagine why I could possibly need to have a cell phone. Now, I don’t know how I could manage without it. I run my whole life via my phone.
My work and family calendars are synced there so that I can keep track of deadlines, wrestling matches, gymnastics meets, piano lessons, doctor appointments, etc. And my whole life is chronicled there since I’m snapping pictures at all those events and uploading them to social media and the cloud. I can get directions to anywhere, shop better prices on items I’m looking at in the store, pull up coupons for stores where I’m shopping, and find the cheapest gas near me.
My phone has become my personal assistant, personal shopper, financial assistant, workout partner, and historian, which is why I spend a lot of time evaluating my options and sharing my findings with my readers who I know are as busy, and often busier, than me.
That’s one of the reasons I applied to be a part of Sprint’s campaign, the other reason being that I’ve been a happy customer of Sprint for several years. I knew I could proudly recommend their products and services because they’ve proven themselves to me consistently.

Each of the phone’s I’ve reviewed have included all of the standard features you’d expect in a smartphone. And each has included an additional set of features that makes it ideal for specific individuals from music lovers to fitness fanatics. In contrast, the Sharp AQUOS Crystal has so many special features, it’s ideal for almost everyone.
For all the details about its features, you can check out the Sharp AQUOS fact sheet. I’ll give you a brief rundown of my favorites though.
Earlier I mentioned that I rely on my phone as a personal assistant. The Speaktoit Assistant that comes standard on the Sharp AQUOS Crystal makes it the dream assistant you didn’t think you could afford to hire. I can dictate notes, social media status updates, and calendar updates. The longer we work together, the better the assistant gets at anticipating my needs.
Thanks to my kids’ schedules and my volunteer responsibilities, I do a lot of my work on my phone while I’m out and about. The problem with my phones in the past was that some tasks required access to Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint so I could edit documents and spreadsheets and I couldn’t do that on my phone. Since almost everyone I know creates and edits their documents in Word, this was a real problem when it came to working with others without being tethered to my desk or dragging along a laptop. I was thrilled when I found out that the Sharp AQUOS Crystal comes equipped with OfficeSuite so I can REALLY do everything I need from my phone.
Advanced Photo Features
Ever since I upgraded to a smartphone years ago, I stopped carrying a camera around with me. It was just one more thing to accidentally damage or leave behind and was completely unnecessary since I could just use my phone to take pictures. Sure, I sacrificed some of the features of a quality camera, and picture quality was compromised, but the convenience seemed worth it.
The Sharp AQUOS Crystal is the first phone I’ve seen that is a better camera than my single-purpose camera. First of all, the resolution is amazing. Even better though, are these two extra special features:
- Night Catch – Automatically brightens both the subject and background for dim settings so those night time shots turn out just as fabulous as your sunny beach photos.
- Shutter Detect – Somehow (I hope some engineer got a big promotion for this one), the phone can detect smiles so that you can miraculously capture that split second smirk that shows up on your teen’s face.
- Sequential Shots – Have you ever tried capturing the perfect shot of your child kicking a soccer ball, hitting a baseball, or doing a back flip? If so, you know it can be very difficult to capture it. Sequential shots lets you take several photos in rapid succession so you can be sure to capture that magical moment.
- Clip Now – Every time I have had to take a screenshot with my phone, I end up taking 4 or 5 because I can’t quite get the simultaneous pressing of the power and home buttons just right. The Clip Now feature lets me grab a screen shot with a swipe of my finger and automatically saves it with a URL so I can share it or attach it to a post.
My husband, an audiophile, also raved about the sound quality. When I asked him to check it out and give me his opinion, he spent all of his time with it listening to music. So, if you’re looking for your phone to serve as your mp3 player too, this one will do the job.
Since this phone does virtually everything I can think of that I would want my phone to do, I can’t imagine who wouldn’t want one. If you’re not sold because you’re with a different carrier, I’d like you to consider this:
I actually shopped other providers just last month because ever since moving to a rural area, I get poor cell reception with Sprint if my internet is down (we bought a device that uses our internet to boost our signal). Since my internet has been off and on for the past month, I was fed up. I talked to all the major carriers and the closest I could get to the plan I currently have with Sprint would have cost me $100 MORE per month. Since I have a child starting college next year, that was unthinkable so we stuck with Sprint and invested in beefing up our home network and internet service. So, do yourself (and your pocketbook) a favor, and spend a few minutes to compare plans across cellular service providers. I think you’ll find that Sprint is hands-down the best deal.
