Special thanks to Kings Dominion for sponsoring today’s post and for providing such a great location for family fun.
Kings Dominion hosts fun events throughout the year, like KidsFest, Taste of Virginia and Halloween Haunt. We just attended KidsFest and with so much to do and see, it’s helpful to have a plan before you go.
Since we were just there, I thought I’d share some tips for getting the most out of your visit.
What is KidsFest?
KidsFest is a two-weekend event at Kings Dominion packed with activities and entertainment geared especially towards kids. You can participate in almost all of the activities with your regular park admission.
The fun takes place in Planet Snoopy. You can attend Brick Fest Live, the ultimate LEGO fan experience. You can also visit a balloon artist, watch a few shows, explore a fire truck and do some crafts.
For a small additional fee, you can also attend a character breakfast or decorate cookies.
Check Show Times
In addition to the regular shows that play throughout the day in Planet Snoopy, for KidsFest Kings Dominion introduces several more. When you get to Planet Snoopy, do a quick walk around to note the show times so you can plan stops accordingly.
We had a great time at Jump! watching the dogs do all kinds of fun tricks.
Save Joe Cool’s Pit Stop for When You Need a Break
The day we went was a hot one! When we were starting to get uncomfortable, we headed over to Joe Cool’s Pit Stop to sit in the shade and enjoy the misting fan that was cooling the area.
Even if you never need to cool down or rest, you’ll want to visit the pit stop just to see the Lego pit! As you can see in the picture above, there are no shortage of Legos.
We’re kinda Lego fanatics so we had just as much fun as the kids checking out the Lego creations.
Make Sure You Find the New Rides
Kings Dominion has added new rides to Planet Snoopy. When you arrive at the park, the map has them marked as new so you can easily find them.
Here’s a sneak peek at Sally’s Sea Plane:
Before you’re underwhelmed, check out the ride in action:
The ride is actually much longer (it goes the opposite direction too). Pretty thrilling for little kids!
Get Character Pics
My kids love getting pictures with the characters, especially my youngest. For KidsFest they were hanging out right outside Sally’s Sea Plane and Joe Cool’s Pit Stop so we were able to get pictures with several of them.

Linus and Lucy
Franklin and Peppermint Patty
Make Time for Your Favorite Rides
Since we go to Kings Dominion a few times every year, we have certain family traditions. For example, we always play girls vs. boys in Boo Blasters to compete for the highest score.
We also always ride Woodstock Express together. Forgive the bumpy video footage. It’s hard to film while you’re on a roller coaster!
And then as soon as we exit the ride, we get in line for Lucy’s Tugboat.
When we’ve ridden all of our favorite rides in Planet Snoopy, we hit a few more family rides in the rest of the park. Shenandoah Lumber Company is always on that list, especially on hot summer days.
Ready to Plan Your Visit?
Hopefully you’ll see this in time to make it to KidsFest. If not, don’t worry. Kings Dominion has fun events planned all summer long!
