I’m sure your parents are doing what they think is right. Have you tried having a conversation with them and asking if you can have more time to work on a school project? Then, maybe if they allow you more time for that and you can prove to them that you can be responsible with the extra screen time, they might let you have a little more so you can try pursuing your dream.

I’m 14 and I have 45 minutes of screen-time a day and my dream is to become a youtuber/influencer but because of my parents it’ll never work out because in 45 minutes you can barely do something on your phone. It’s also really hard for me in school projects, I’m often left out because of that. I just wish my parents weren’t that strict 🙁

BUT I DO NOT AGREE with you that kids should have Facebook or Insta accounts so young! You have to be at least 14 I believe to even have a FB or Insta account. So many sexual predators on there, not to mention the addiction to them, the bullying etc. increased suicidal and depression. I know adults that have had to get off of social media because of these things, I can’t imagine how an 11 year old would handle this.

Maybe share this post with them and then you and your parents can have a discussion about cell phones. Ask them what their concerns are about you having a cell phone and see if there’s anything you can do to alleviate their concerns.

I think you should first thank your mom for all of the devices she’s already given you and let her know how grateful you are to have them. Then, ask her why she wants you to wait until you’re sixteen to have a phone. Once you know the reasons, you’ll have a better idea of how to discuss it with her.
