How to Make Cinnamon Swirl French Toast Casserole

To make this delicious recipe you only need to follow these simple steps. I know it may seem like there is a lot of steps to this recipe, but they are easy to follow and you will be enjoying this dish in no time at all.

Step 1: Cut the bread into cubes

Slice swirl bread into cubes, place in a large bowl. Set to the side.

Step 2: Prepare a baking pan

Spray a small round baking dish with non-stick baking spray. Set to the side.

Step 3: Small saucepan

In a small saucepan, heat milk and 1/4 cup butter over medium heat. Stir until butter is melted and milk is hot. Remove from the heat.

Step 4: Mix the egg and milk mixture

In a small bowl, mix granulated sugar, cinnamon, salt, and eggs until well blended. Stir in milk mixture.

Step 5: Coat the bread in egg and milk mixture

Pour the mixture into the bread bowl and fold until the bread is well coated.

Step 6: Add to baking dish

Scoop the bread mixture into the baking dish.

Step 7: Prepare the Instant Pot

Prepare your Instant Pot by adding a 1/2 cup of water. Add your trivet to your Instant Pot.

Step 8: Add the baking dish

Place your baking dish in your pot on top of the trivet.

Step 9: Cook the french toast

Set the Pressure to high for the timer for 25 minutes.

Step 10: Release the pressure

When the timer goes off, turn the steam release valve to “venting”.

Step 11: Allow the bread to settle

Let sit for 10 minutes. This allows the french toast to settle and firm up.

Step 12: Flip the french toast

Place a large plate over the baking dish and carefully flip it over. Lift the baking dish away from the french toast.

Step 13: Make the Bourbon Sauce

While french toast is cooking, combine brown sugar and butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil and stir until the brown sugar has dissolved.

Step 14: Add in the whipping cream and bourbon to the sauce

Remove from heat and mix in the whipping cream and bourbon. Pour generously over the french toast before serving.

Step 15: Top the french toast

Top your french toast with powdered sugar, cinnamon, and whipped cream.
