“I participated in an Influencer Program on behalf of Mom Central for Nutri-Grain. I received product samples and promotional item to thank me for participating.”
Mornings in my house are chaotic. Six of us are dashing about, bumping into each other trying to gather all the things we need for the day while getting ready to be out all day. Throw in daylight savings time, making it harder for all of us to roll out of bed in the morning and our hopes of enjoying a hearty breakfast (which we all know is “the most important meal of the day”) become sheer fantasy.
Chaotic Mornings Need A Breakfast We Can Eat On The Go
When I have time, I try to make sure everyone has a meal that contains protein and whole grains to sustain us until lunch. Steel cut oats is a personal favorite, served with Greek yogurt and berries. But steel cut oats take a long time to cook and by the end of the week our fresh fruit supply is dwindling, especially those popular berries. Our fallback has typically been cereal, but some mornings are so crazy that we don’t even have time to sit down for that. We need something we can eat on the go.
Nutri-Grain Fruit & Oat Harvest Bars
I was excited when I learned that Kellogg’s developed a new Nutri-Grain product that is heartier than the Nutri-Grain bars that are popular snacks for my family. They created Nutri-Grain Fruit & Oat Harvest bars. Each bar contains 4 grams of protein, whole grains, and real fruit. At 180 calories each, they won’t hurt your waistline either. Of course, none of this matters if they don’t taste good. Thankfully, they are delicious!
We tried both the strawberry and blueberry bars and loved them both. I especially like that the bars aren’t overly sweet, since I didn’t want to eat a candy bar for breakfast. Also, they are just the right size–just large enough to satisfy your hunger. I hate when I grab a low-calorie snack but have to eat 3 or 4 of them in order to feel full since it’s expensive AND negates my attempts to watch my calorie intake.
Everyone in my family became big fans of these nutritious bars. I stuffed one in each of their backpacks so that they have something to eat on their way to school on those mornings when they don’t have time for breakfast.
Toss a Nutri-Grain Bar In Your Purse
I tossed one in my purse as an emergency provision for myself. I have a tendency to become “hangry” (hungry + angry) when I miss a meal, which just isn’t fair to the people who have to deal with me so this was really an act of community service.
Toss a Nutri-Grain Bar In The Van
And just in case any of us used up our emergency provisions without replacing them, I staged a couple of Fruit & Oat Harvest bars in the minivan. Yes, that’s the Left-Right-Center game in there beside them. That’s my emergency provision for keeping the family entertained when we eat out or get stuck in a waiting room.
It didn’t take long for my husband to realize the potential of these fruit & oat bars. The day I received my samples, he grabbed one for breakfast, which he ate literally as he was walking out the door.
Share A Nutri-Grain Bar With A Friend
One of my morning activities is volunteering for the high school’s muffin cart. We sell snack items to students and staff to raise money for the PTO. Since I have to be there right after I get my kids on the bus, I often skip breakfast. Unfortunately, I spend the next 2 1/2 hours pushing around a cart full of food, none of which is good for me. I grabbed two bars (one for me and one for my BFF who volunteers with me) to save us from the tempting empty calories of the muffin cart.
So, next time you’re at the store, look for them. I’m sure you’ll love them as much as we did. Be sure to visit their Facebook page so you don’t miss coupons and information about new products.
Love the pictures! those bars are worth a try, since my family is hating the same ol’ food for breakfast everyday. And I have to say that’s a super cute muffin apron on your BFF! very clever for “muffin cart”, I bet those high school kids love you! And when do you find the time to volunteer, it sounds like you’re really busy and you still fit in volunteer work…. good for you.
I bought the strawberry ones at the store and I am in love. 🙂 They are a bit expensive but they are quick and easy, plus they taste awesome.
Nutrigrain bars are the best!!!
These look delicious! Wuld love to try the Blueberry Bliss. Have to see if our stores have them too.
Hi Corinne – I am chucking as I can see the family grabbing all of the samples you got as they are leaving for the day. Too cute! Hugs, Holly
Looks like you need to get these Nutri-grain bars added to the snack cart for the kiddos. My family has enjoyed Nutri-grain bars for years, but these are a new version I’ll have to look for on my next trip to the store.
