This probably differs for everyone since each person is different, but in general, I view care packages as being more of a surprise or treat to remind my kids that I'm thinking about them and that I care about them. The actual items don't matter too much, it's that you took the time to send something to them that might be helpful. For one of my sons who likes riddles and puzzles, I would choose a different theme and then fill it with items from the dollar store. The items didn't matter at all, they were simply clues about the theme.

Your advice in the blog post is really helpful. I was wondering, how did you decide on what kind of care packages to send? My oldest is starting college soon, and I'm feeling a bit clueless about what essentials they might need or appreciate. Thanks for the tips!
