Top 3 Reasons to Shop GameStop

If you have a Pokémon fan in your home, you’ve probably been hearing about Pokémon Sun and Moon for months. And if your child is anything like my son, he’s been saving up so he could purchase the games as soon as they were released.

Parenting Tip: Though kids usually refer to Pokémon Sun and Moon as if it is one thing, they are actually TWO games – Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon. In both games, players explore the islands of the Alola Region with the help of the laidback Professor Kukui and his mysterious assistant Lillie.
Since my son has to work really hard for his spending money, he has become a really savvy shopper. I wasn’t surprised when he said he wanted to go to GameStop to buy Pokémon Sun and Moon. It was a smart choice for these reasons:
Your child has already begged you for the games, this is why you should take them to GameStop to get them.

1. Selection

If you ask my son, his main reason for shopping at GameStop is that he knows they’ll have what he wants. He hates shopping so he doesn’t like to run the risk of having to go to multiple stores to find what he wants. For new releases, like Pokémon Sun and Moon, GameStop always has them available on release day. For older games, his odds of finding them at GameStop are much higher than anywhere else, plus he can check inventory online before we even get to the store. If they don’t have a game he is looking for, they always offer to try and locate it for him and provide suggestions where else he can look if they can’t get it for him. In addition to video games, they also have consoles, accessories, electronics, and collectiblesPokémon Collectibles are a great add-on if you are buying a gift for your favorite Pokémon fan. My 9-year old daughter loves the plushies. Both my son and daughter love to collect and play with the trading cards. The most sought after collectible this year though will likely be the Z-ring bracelet. It’s an interactive toy that Pokémon Sun and Moon players can use with the game for an even greater game experience.

2. Power Trade

Not only could we count on the store having it in stock on release day, my son also wanted to take advantage of their 20% Power Trade offer towards Pokémon Sun and Moon (good through 12/4/16). He’s able to trade in old games or accessories for a credit that he can apply towards his purchase of Pokémon Sun and Moon.
I love that GameStop offers trade-ins because:
  • It teaches my son that used items have value
  • It helps my son buy games and items with his own resources
  • My son can find used items to purchase at affordable prices

GameStop is about bringing power to the players. In this case, they’re bringing the players a great offer that let’s them get the Pokémon game they want for less.

3. Customer Service

In addition to their trade in program, another reason I love to bring my son to GameStop for his video games purchases is the service. At ALL of our local GameStops (we’ve managed to visit five in our area over the years), the store associates are wonderful role models for my son. I’m always impressed with how friendly and professional they are, greeting us when we walk in and promptly addressing any questions we have. I love that they are so confident (able to look people in they eye, certain about the information they provide) but also so willing to be of service (dropping whatever they are working on to help you locate a game). I watch in awe as store associates have long, detailed conversations with my son about the various features, pros/cons, and updates to the games and equipment he asks them about. They are walking encyclopedias of all things gaming. And they always take the time to ask my son about his specific thoughts and opinions of various features and games before making recommendations. It’s such a wonderful environment for him to learn how to shop and make smart choices since they respect his opinions and provide trustworthy advice. Finally, they always make every effort to make sure my son has gotten exactly what he wants and has used every money-saving offer available. We never leave the store worrying that we were talked into something unnecessary or worried we overpaid. I wish I could leave every store feeling this way!

  1. I’m not much into games anymore. I used to really like Blood Rayne and GTA and, back in the day, I even liked Pac-Man and Galaga but not anything current here.

  2. I enjoy games of strategy and problem solving. My boys enjoy playing soccer games with their friends and having them over for a pizza night.
