If you live in, or are planning a visit to Virginia, make time to attend the Taste of Virginia at Kings Dominion. The event is taking place every Saturday and Sunday from May 6 – 21, 2017 in the heart of the amusement park.
We get season tickets every year so I’ve had PLENTY of family day trips to the park. This was the first time I went without the family. This time I went with my friend, Erika, who loves delicious food and good wine as much as I do.
Virginia is for Wine Lovers
Virginia is home to dozens of great wineries. Our slogan may be “Virginia is for Lovers” but this adapted slogan is fitting too.
Needless to say, our first stop was the wine booth. Erika and I are red wine lovers so we both got a glass of the Rappahannock Cellars Meritage.
Taste of Virginia Menu
While we were waiting in line for our wine, people kept walking by us with amazing plates of food. So, as soon as we had wine in hand, we set off to get our own. There was plenty to choose from:
I decided on Chesapeake crab cakes.
And yes, they tasted just as good as they look!
More Taste of Virginia Offerings
After we finished eating, we checked out the rest of the area. I LOVED this display:
And though I was happy with my wine, I was impressed with the available spirits.
For those who prefer a good brew, there were plenty of beers on hand to sample at Taste of Virginia too.
There was also a tent set up next to the covered seating are where live bands performed throughout the day.
So grab your spouse or a good friend and enjoy Kings Dominion in a whole new way. OR, bring your older kids and actually enjoy yourself while you wait for them to ride all of the roller coasters. Taste of Virginia is definitely a fun, grown-up twist on a day at the amusement park!
Can’t make it to the park in May? Don’t worry! You’ll get another chance for grown-up fun in August when Kings Dominion hosts BBQ and Brew. And if you’re looking for an event the whole family can enjoy, don’t miss Soak City Beach Parties at the end of July. Check out the Events Calendar to see all of the upcoming events this summer.
