To many parents throughout the country, it’s the most wonderful time of the year. No, it’s not Christmas; it’s back to school time!

After a fun-filled, action-packed summer, parents everywhere are getting their kids ready for the start of a new school year. However, all of those late nights and all of those mornings sleeping in may have been fun, but they can cause havoc when it comes to getting kids back into the swing of things when school starts – and parents, too!

Here are some tips and recipes that will start everyone’s morning off right and make getting back to school a breeze.

Play some Upbeat Music

Nothing gets the sleep out of the eyes and lifts the spirits better than some good tunes. Create an upbeat, lively playlist and play it first thing in the morning. You and your kids won’t be able to help but smile, sing along and dance with your morning playlist as background music!

Make Breakfast a Family Affair

Instead of pouring your kids bowls of cereal or toasting up frozen waffles, invite them into the kitchen and let them get involved in making their own breakfast.

These breakfast options will be sure to power up your kids and give them the energy they need to tackle the school day.

Dress for Success

If getting your kids dressed always seems to be a struggle, avoid the struggle by planning ahead.

Set out outfits for the entire week, including shirts, bottoms, underwear and socks. Put each outfit into a neat, separate pile and label each pile for each day of the week, Monday through Friday.

Your kids will have a much easier time getting dressed, and you’ll shave valuable minutes off of getting them ready to get out of the door.

Get some Exercise

Wake those sleepy heads up by getting the blood flowing with a morning exercise routine.

Exercise is an excellent energy booster, not to mention that it does wonders for the mood. Try taking a walk together in the morning, do some yoga, or just have a little dance party while you’re listening to your morning playlist.

There are plenty of fun and easy ways to be active with your kids, including games you can play almost anywhere.

Get Pumped Up

Get everyone in a great mood and prepared to tackle the day by sharing some affirmations in the morning.

Saying things like, “We’ve got this day! I’m strong and capable and can do anything I put my mind to,” will surely get everyone in the house psyched up and ready for the day that awaits.

Getting back into the school routine doesn’t have to be a drag. By putting these tips into practice, you’ll be sure to get your kids psyched about going to school every morning, and they’ll be sure to have a great day.

  1. I love the idea of upbeat music! Music gets us moving and I have never tried playing it in the morning.
